BowTech Bows
#1
I just checked ou the BowTech line of bows for the first time. I was looking at the Hoyt line and then picked up a Bowtech. UGGGHHHH!! What a heavy bow, I felt like I was carrying my shotgun. Who the hell would want to lug that heavy thing into and out of the woods, let alone pull it up a tree. Geez, you'd have to strap yourself in and get one of those deep sea fishing rigs to pull that thing up. I just don't understand how anybody would want to buy one of those bows.
OK, I might be exaggerating just a little bit, but seriously I would never buy one of those things. To each their own I guess.
Hope this doesn't PO anybody who shoots one of those bows, they probably have arms like pythons from lifting the darn thing!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Which bow are you talking about? All of bowtech bows? I shoot the Mighty Mite which is about 3.5 lbs. and feels fine to me. The patriot might me a little on the heavy side at 4.25 lbs. But you act like you have to be Dorian Yates to shoot it. Oh well all I can say is if they are too heavy for you get something lighter, but I wouldn't have anything else.

Yeah, what model are you talking about? I shoot the Tech29 and it is light at 3.6# without accessories. I believe most light bows are between 2.9 to 3.7 lbs (most in the 3's#). Some are in the 4+#.

This is why we have choices . I know myself I could not shoot a parker ultralite 31 or mathews sq2 worth a hill of beans , but some pepole love those models . Bowtech makes quality bows from quality materials that are very effeciant and accurate . One pound makes alot of diferance in a bow , but we carry climbing tree stands in the woods with us all the time and they can weigh between 10 and 30 lbs so if Im going to save on weight Id rather do it by carrying in a lighter [ slightly less confortable ] stand and a heaver [ more accurate for me ] bow .

Gee there must be some really weak whimps out there<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
I am 5'8" 110lbs and thats fully dressed carrying a bucket of water in each hand.
Yet I dont have any problem carying my Patriot or pulling it up a tree.
Why go and buy a bow that feels like a toy when you can go buy a BOWTECH a REAL MANS bow<img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

I could see people being put off by the weight of the Patriot. It is heavy, especially with accessories, and has a very unusual balance to it. Some of their line is over 4 lbs. such as the Pro Series, the G3, and the BK2 (but that is to be expected since it is on the same riser as the Pat). The other bows are in the 3.5 lb. range with some under 3 lb.s. I'd say Bowtech has a good variety for whatever your preference is.

Just another BS BowTech bash started by someone who has never shot one. Maybe you should check out the Browning Micro, my 6 yr old shoots one.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Heck, I knew that post would cause a buzz among the Bowtech faithful.
I'm sure they shoot just fine its just that after handling some of the Hoyts it was a pronounced difference in weight when I picked-up a Bowtech. I do believe it was a Patriot model. I'm not by any means trying to bash the product, just pointing out how incredibly surprised I was at how heavy the bow was IN COMPARISON TO OTHER BOWS. I realize that in comparison to a bucket full of water they are probably pretty light but then I don't plan on carrying a bucket full of water around the woods form dawn till dusk either.
I hope you Bowtech owners enjoy them, I just personally did not like the weight of them. I'm sure that I'm not alone in that regard.
As an added note, I do understand where you faithful are coming from because I love my Remington 11-87 and that is a heavy SOB to be carrying all day but you'd have a hard time convincing me to switch to something else. Of course if I tried say a Benelli Super Black Eagle I would think the 11-87 felt like a cement block. Of course the price difference is a factor with the shotguns but the Bowtech runs for as much as the Hoyts...
