bowgobble, I tried shooting one pin last night for the first time, man what a difference!!!! I have a very old Black Bear, Bear bow which even though it has a 65 pound pull is far from being fast. I found that by aiming a little low at 10-15 yards I was hitting right on the money, at twenty I held the pin right on the mark and hit right on the mark, and of course I went high over twenty.

I was amazed at how easy it was to adjust to one pin, I also came on target far quicker because I wasn't double/triple checking which pin I was using. I do not feel shooting a single pin is totally dependent upon how fast your bow is, but more on practicing at different distances and finding how high or low you need to hold to hit where you want. I totally concur that the faster your bow the easier shooting single pin would be.

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quotequote:
got a question guys. about how many fps would your bow have to be shootin in order to shoot 1 pin from say 15yds out to 30yds? I know my darton shoots fast enough at 270 fps, but what about my G/E it shoots 245 fps? would that be fast enough for onr pin out to 30yds?

You can shoot one pin at any speed. It just requires a slightly different hold at each distance. You might want to try this. Draw a "T" on your target. Aim for the top of the "T" at the intersection at 5 yards. Note where you hit and then move back 5 yards, do the same here, making sure to actually measure how far above or below the "T" you hit. Do this in 5 yard increments until your as far back as you'll ever shoot. You may want to repeat this a few times or shoot groups to get an average. You will then know how far above or below to hold at the different distances. If you have to hold 6" high at 30 yards, that's pretty easy to estimate accurately enough. The only real experimentation is figuring what exact yardage you prefer to set the one pin at. I like it so, that my slam dunk shots (under the tree) can be taken with the pin held right on, or held only an 1" high.

Tazman you're right, it is easy to adjust to, and decision making with a large buck in front of you becomes much easier.

I have 3 pins but have my top one set for 20 yds and I find with practice its good up to 30yds. That is about my limit for a shot I don't really even mess with my other pins.

No one pin setup for me. I used to use it, but didn't like it. Now I use three pins 8,18,and 28.

On my recurve and longbow no pins.
