The other day I went for a walk where i live and i was watching this doe from 80 yds and these 3 turkey kept on staying within 15 feet from me and wouldn't run, i have been 5 feet from them when the dumb things come in my yard. The DOE i watched would run if i stalked it within 15 yds. Turkeys may have good eyesight but the ones i see have half a brain and turkeys don't have the biggest brains. I see no reason why a whitetailed deer would be easier to kill than a half brained turkey. Have a nice day!!!!!!!!

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quotequote:
Comparing the diffeculty of a certain species to hunt -vs- another can only be done by using the same hunting techniques. You started the thread by comparing turkeys to whitetails , and then changed to 4 year old buck -vs- turkey , and yet again , changed to adult buck with a bow -vs- tom turkey with a shotgun. In the last scenario , I would give the nod to the buck. Boss tom -vs- mature buck , both hunted with bow , the nod goes to the boss tom.

Yep, just like you changed turkey to "boss-tom". How does turkey come to mean "boss tom". You are exactly right. I said compare deer to turkey not deer to boss tom. Let's compare apples to apples. If we are going to compare hunting mature males then lets compare them to mature males. The comparison I made pitted "ANY" turkey male female or friggin homorphodite to "ANY" deer. Then you guys start harping on a boss tom blah blah blah. I never said anything about a boss tom.
To answer your question, NO. I have never bowhunted turkeys. I rarely ever turkey hunt any more. I just don't find it challenging enough. I have killed mature toms with a bow but it has always been in the fall. So there you have bow shotgun or rock turkeys are still the dumbest animal in the woods.

Where I live we have a fall archery season for turkey that coincides with deer season. I kill them occaisionaly off of my deer stand.

According to what you professed, it appears you may be padding the actual instructions necessary to hunt and kill turkey.
Should not your classes only be comprised of two 10 minute periods?
1. Easy hunting techniques for easy kills.
2. Best rock composition and size.

No, what I am saying is that I can take that arsenal of methods and kill a gobbler almost everyday that I hunt. At the very least one every other day. I have a great deal of control over my success. If one method doesn't work then I switch to something else and Bang!!, another dead gobbler. Deer hunting I don't have anywhere near as much control over the outcome and success is ultimately determined by whether or not the buck I am after, chooses to move during daylight hours.

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quotequote:
I don't know........are you on a game farm or state land or a private food plot?? Are you in a stand or stalking?? Is it a compound bow, recurve or longbow?? What kind of shotgun is it and what is it's effective range??? Are you in a blind or not?? How much hunting pressure are the deer and turkey under??? Are you alone or do you have 10 buddies pushing the deer to you in a drive??? Have you done any scouting or is it a new area you are not familiar with??

You have trouble when I write too fast so I will slow down. Which is tougher for YOU, however YOU hunt whereever YOU hunt. Regardless of the conditions under which you hunt, which do you find to be tougher(a mature gobbler or a mature buck). You can go ahead and skip this question since you are having such a hard time with it.

It is very clear to everyone here but YOU that you are the one having trouble with the topic........It's OK though. You sound like a young guy who still gets upset when he doesn't get his way
What I was getting at is why would you even ask a question like that without being as specific as possible about the things I mentioned??
Who the hell cares if someone types in that deer are easier then turkey if they sit on a game farm picking deer off from a feeder at 200 yards???
Same goes for someone saying turkey is much easier to hunt but what you don't know is he onlt stalk hunts whitetails with a long bow.
The sooner you realize that it is not a black and white, easy, quick yes or no question you will understand what everyone is trying to point out to you.............or maybe you won't.

Thanks atlasman. I am sure that I could learn alot from a guy like you that has to come here in order to ask others whether or not he should shoot mechanical broadheads or not. Remember is not just black and white no one can tell you whether or not to shoot mechanicals because there are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to many variables involved. After all who the hell cares whether you shoot mechanicals or not?

FINALLY, something we agree upon
I now realize why the word a$$ appears twice in your name.........once would not be enough
Don't worry kid, maybe you can change your question 10 more times until everyone finally agrees with you.
BTW, I addressed all the variables in my broadhead thread........unlike you I want facts, experiences and truth. Not just opinions and comments.
Besides, I prefer to hunt with the deadliest weapon I can so that is why I am researching broadheads so close BEFORE I choose........maybe you would be happier if I just didn't care and put any old piece of crap on the end of my arrows and learned what was good and what was bad by sticking them in a few deer and see what happens.........Sorry but I don't do things that way.
You should be thankful that I am doing everything I can to ensure a quick, clean, ethical harvest of the animals I hunt. Maybe that is not important to you.........since you plan to hunt with a rock next year

I think here in the deep south, Turkeys are easier to kill. Try grunting to a deer thats 30 yds away while your leaning against a tree with out any other cover and he's looking right in your direction, it's not gonna happen. I think turkeys are much easier to kill, given the population being equal.
