You have to remember Fieldmouse doesn't see it as a big deal if you loose a deer. It will be eaten by something and lot's of them out there. Not an exact qoute but pretty close ti what he's typed here several times.

I would have have given that Doe 15 mins and gone and gotten her. We are talking about a Doe not a mature buck. She won't run nearly as far or as long. Maybe if you jumped her once and she ran strong but Does can't take that kind of damage and live for very long. Also, I didn't see where it was confirmed a liver only hit. It was thought to have been one but nothing was confirmed. All I said was the atempt should have been made.

I also didn't see where someone else might have known what was going on. I belive this was archery and so no one else would have heard a shot. Maybe the other person thought they gave up looking. Maybe they thought the other person was just killing to kill. Did that other person look around for who shot the deer? I guess we don't know because they left the scene.

I'm sorry for not doing any hand holding on this one. I obviously would have done it different. It's a shame for him not to recover his first deer but then again just go out and shoot another one.

I can assure you guys it wasn't me. I don't even want the deer I kill let alone somebody elses. They are just rats to me let someone else eat them.

A lost deer never goes to waste because all the other critters in the woods have to eat as well. They in fact rely or should I say survive on this fact.

Fieldmouse, you come up with some of the most ridiculious things i've ever heard, and i sometimes wonder if you say things just to piss people off. I honestly hope your not serious.

I don't really know what to say to you and your nephew. That really sucks. And you did everything right. Sorry to hear that.

Jerry, I'm not trying to piss you off. I'm only pointing out the obvious. We don't know what the other person did because you went home. I'm sorry you lost the deer. I would have done things different. I'm being chastised for my answer and all I did was state another opinion. I don't think you should have left the scene. Don't take it as any endorsement for someone else going home with your deer because it wasn't meant that way.

I think the best expirience you can have is that first kill. To see someone jump around after the shot like you were able to expirience makes it all worth while. It would have been better if he could have recovered his deer.

Fieldmouse, your right one of the best experiences is to see the jumping around and excitement experienced when you walk up on your first kill. Rather than taking up the trail after 15 minutes and pushing her into who knows where. We waited, giving her ample time to bed up and expire. I waited hoping she would expire not far from the point of impact and would be found easily. The plan worked to perfection, as she was down within 120 yards. I really wanted him to have the deer, i think i may have even been more excited than he was. The bottom line is, He would have the deer the deer if this moron hadn't walked off with it.

Fair enough. 15 minutes on a liver hit deer would not be long enough, not even close. Granted big old tough bucks will NORMALLY take a little longer to die then a younger deer. But 15 minutes on any liver hit is not good practice.

[quote]So after getting him to calm down and explaining to him we should wait a couple hours because it looked to be a liver hit based on the blood on the arrow.[ /quote]
