Most stores have "loss leaders", common items that are priced rockbottom to get you to start buying. You don't mention what the items were, if Bass Pro was having a sale, or how much the price difference was so it's tough to pass judgement.

Or it could be an item that Cabelas had to buy at a higher price and still needs to make the margin that they set out to make per item. Matching prices doesn't always make business sense even though someone is buying that item somewhere else. Sure I like to spend my $$ locally, but dang if I'm going to spend 15-20% or more just to keep my $$ in town. IMO..you can't beat Cabelas. One of the best customer service departments out there.

Well by the end of 2005 or the beginning of 2006 they had better start matching prices with Bass Pro here in Kansas City because they will have both stores in the same city and they will loose out big time if they don't.
