ok, guys i had a pretty nice ten point come right under my stand this evening ,he stoped at about 10 yards from my stand and was facing me ,he started acting funny like he was going to run so i toke the shot . i aimed just on the right side of the back so the arrow would pass through the lung . when i shot he jumped about 4 ft in the air and he toke off . it was almost dark so i didnt try to find him i did look for my arrow and some blood i didnt find either i didnt get a complete pass through ,i guess that is why i didnt find any blood , has anyone had this happen and if i can not find a blood trail how do you track a deer that has been hit like this?

if u hit a deer , no matter where eventually there will be blood , just think of it as getting a cut , you bleed ! same with them , but i agree with u that he prolly will take a few yards to start pumping it out past the shaft taht remains in him! good luck keep us posted!

if you can't find your arrow or blood at point of impact and you are sure you hit him I would go out there very early and mark the point of impact and just walk the route you last seen him go assuming after you shot you did close your eyes or turn around and count to ten and say ready or not here I come( just kidding ) I think your best bet is to follow the get away route he took your bound to find blood plus if it was getting dark maybe you just missed some blood at impact point. Good luckmacdaddyo0o he sounds like a nice deer.

Come back in morning with some help. Often you won't find any blood for about 20 to 30 yards, especially when they take off like a rocket. A high hit can also take longer. You did the right thing and waited. If he's going to die, he'll be dead by morning and much easier to find!
Good Luck!

Nearly all hits to an internal will kill an animal. Just about all animals that are gut shot die within 24 hours. As many experienced hunters like some on this site will tell you, most animals will bed down within a couple hundred yards of being shot. Assuming the deer isn't spooked he will probably lay there and die of internal bleeding. If you follow the path that you last saw him take and can't find him, I would suggest doing a criss/cross pattern with a radius of a few hundred yards. I would bet that he is in that area, you just have to find him. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

I know you were excited and all but it is best to wait for that broadside shot or quartering away shot. A quartering towards shot , if that's what it was , you said he was facing you , will involve a stomache hit. And to answer your question , you didn't get a pass thru because I'd guess your arrow hit the hind leg on the opposite side.
Hope you find him , good luck!
