My brother in law was busted by 3 does today in one of our stands that has a big buck running in the area. The wind shifted and the deer were directly down wind of him. He couldn't tell if they were looking at him or just in his direction, but they blew and jogged off. This stand is near a trucking plant so I'm sure the deer are used to human smell. I want to hunt this stand in the near future, but how long should I wait to get back in it or is it shot for the season?

I don't know if the waiting time before getting back in the tree is all that important. All I can say is if they did see you and identified you, they will look in your tree everytime they approach again. I would say to be careful if you plan on shooting any of these does because they will probably be very cautious and may "jump the string" a little easier then others. they may also give you position away if the big buck is following them. You may want to consider moving the stand to another tree if possible. Good luck.

Dude I wouldn't worry about it. Just because three does busted you surely isn't going to ruin the stand. I've been busted before and stayed in the stand and killed deer within a hour.

Just the other day I was hunting on the ground, just inside some trees along a cut corn field. I knew there would be deer walking the corn edges and the wind was in my favor.
I was busted by a doe on visual - turned out I had nothing behind me to break up my outline so even though I didn't move, didn't smell, and didn't make a sound, she saw me and when she left she took 4 of her closest friends with her.
I moved 20 feet to a better spot - and within 3 minutes another group of deer were headed my way along the same trail.
Moral of the story - there's plenty of deer in the woods! Try not to educate them too often, but don't worry about 1 doe busting you. She was there for a reason so chances are others will be too - just correct your mistake (or in Deer902s case - your brothers mistake) and have confidence.
