Nice Birthday Present
This is my first post. I love seeing all the positive stuff here so i joined.Today is my birthday and won't be able to hunt tonight, but got in the tree last night
and saw 9 bucks in 2 hours! They are starting to tickle the tines together. It was fun to watch. I acually had a shot at a 12 point and I know a lot of you would think I'm crazy for not taking it but, The deer is a little smaller than one I shot 3 years ago on the same farm.This does not have what I am looking for in width, mass and tine length. He is a great deer and my buddy (who owns the land) saw this deer last week and really wants it for himself. (Fine with me.)
I was glad I passed because 20 min. later a huge mainframe 10 with a split brow tine (making him an 11pt,) came into the field. He has to be 21" wide and long(10") brows, longer G2s and G3s. Might be in the 150 class. I never got a shot but I got to watch the show for a long time. The big 10 actually ran the 12 pt. I passed out of the field.

happy b-day and welcome to this site from what i've seen its top notch, hope you get the 10/11pt. you sound like my kinda guy, let a friend hunt one of my stands opening day a few years back and he killed a 10 with a 20" spread, before this he had only killed a few basket racked deer, with him killing this deer now he is more inclined to let the younger bucks walk, he has seen what selective harvest can do for the size of the animals and him killing this deer made his season, yes i would have shot him, but when you can let someone else swallow the hook that is just getting started or they have never killed a decent deer why not. my hats off to you man. hope you have a great season

I will narrow it down to South West Ohio. And just to clarify, not all 9 bucks were GREAT. There were only 3 "shooters" by my standards.
You all would laugh if you saw where I am hunting, it is very close to 2 subdivisions but is adjacent to a 80 acre hardwood stand of wooods.
