Hi bscofield, This is John web site and you can order the book directly from him. http://www.born-to-track.com/ John is a great guy and willing to help those interested in gettting started. Another great place to go ask questions about Tracking is www.thetroutbum.com There is a message board on there just for tracking dogs. There are a lot of great people on there that are willing to help also. I would sudjest going there and reading all the post first then if you have any more questions fire away some one will answer them. Good luck in traind your dog.

I have to chime in here just to give some praises for the Daschunds. My buddy has a miniature daschund that just took to trailing deer imediately with no training. If it wasn't for that little weiner dog I probably would not have recovered a doe a few years ago. We looked for hours and hours before we were ready to give up. Then out of the blue my buddy says "you know , I heard that daschunds were breed to track deer , maybe I should go get my dog and see what he can do". Why not I said. He started the dog on the trail , it's nose hit the ground and 20 minutes later he was standing on my deer barking. Ever since then he's tracked many deer for other people.
I'm trying to convince my wife how cute those little weiner dogs are and how the kids would just love one.
