My bow hangs until see a deer moving in. Same with the rifle during gun season. Why have all the extra movement?
I suppose it's personal preference.

Where would the extra movement be if the bow or gun was already in hand? If it is hanging you have to reach for it to get it in hand. That would be the extra movement.

Bow in hands at all times is a bit unrealistic.
I'll also respectfully disagree with this statement. Unless I'm rattleing my bow is in hand and I have an arrow nocked. Deer are sneaky and quick and unless you're ready 100% of the time they can and will slip past.

If you like, feel free to hand you're bow. I'll be siting quietly with mine in hand

I always hold my bow. I have never hung it. I have a wooden riser bow, does not get cold in your hand. I would feel unprepared and vulnerable if I hung it.

I have my bow hanging on a realtree easy hanger with a arroe knocked at all times. The reason that i knew how many points it was is because i have seen that deer earlier in the season and counted the points through my spoting scope
