Ive used the can alot over the last couple opf seasons.....i have seen it work on several occasions....it definitly works! However, just like any other aspect of hunting, it's not going to do the trick 100% of the time

well I hate to say that there all they are cracked up to be but I have had incredible suscess with the can call in conjunction with my grunt call. I have called in bucks that i can see are walking the other way and they turn around and head in. I have never had suscess when the deer is traveling with other deer, seems to work on bachelor bucks. But I have scared them off too, with only one noise and they went all looking at me!!!. So good luck, just remember that they wont always run at you like the videos.

I have had mixed results with the big can. On several occasions I have been able to get deer to come closer while using it but on other occasions that ignore it entirely. I believe it really depends, in large part, on what type of mood they are in.
I still do take it with me during every hunt as you never know when it may become useful.

The can is nothing more than a contact call. It's a call all deer use when alone and looking for another deer. It's a bleat that rises and then falls in pitch. There is no scientific data indicating that deer make an estrous bleat like is claimed by the "Can". Doe that are in estrous will simply make the contact bleat because they are looking for other deer.
Like Frank said above, it's never a sure thing. Yes it can produce results and when it does it's amazing how deer will come right to it. It's no different than the grunt call...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but it's worth having with you in the stand. If the deer are not coming close to you and if by chance, the can or any other call could work, it's worth trying because after all, bowhunting means closeness.......
You can mimick the call of the can with any good grunt tube on the market.....I particularly don't like the can because it cannot grunt so don't buy it as a sole call...you need more than one or like I prefer the Deer Flute by River Valley Game Calls, I can use this call as a grunt as well as a contact call by simply sliding the brass slide....another call is the HS True Talker, however finger placement is key and it's easier to make the wrong call. Any tube call with an adjustable ring can also mimic the "Can"......just bleat with a rise in pitch that drops off at the end......
