also on that stupid show, every shot was a running shot. I saw a guy take a running shot at a doe on the skyline. I hate shows like this, they make us all look bad!!!
I don't think that the one (singular) show that depicted deer drives in Wisconsin that has four pages of comments on this forum is nearly as bad for the public to see as the multiple shows that are on with a guy riding in a blind on top of a moving vehicle only to stop at the intersection of a "sendero" with a truck load of corn scattered all around, or right next to a feeder. I've seen a lot of that lately on many different shows. Or on Kawasaki's Wild Skies seeing multi-millionaire NRA president Wayne Lapierre or his wife and 10 other people climb off of the top rack of their jeep, walk over to a termite mound, get a gun handed to them by the guide or tracker and kill an impala which is just standing there because it's natural defence system says to identify a threat before wasting valuble energy running from every thing that moves in your direction.
There are a lot of shows like these last two examples, and I've only ever seen one like the Wisconsin deer drive. Now think about it, to a non-hunter or an anti-hunter, which show or show really depicts a hunting style that they could most easily focus on as one to stop??

I usually don't get to watch many hunting shows, but was laid up in bed for a week after surgery. I found this show on OLN, it was something like OEI (?). Any way I think they were in Texas and were riding arround in one of those blinds on top of a truck. The first guy spotted a nice bedded buck about 50 Yds off the road. He got down and crept into range. He said the only shot he had at the deer was a neck shot, and went on to try to explain how this was an ethical shot. So, there I was, in bed, doped up on my meds screaming at the TV. NOOOOOOOOOOO, don't take that shot. much to my suprise he didn't hear me and took the shot. That was in the morning, next thing you know they are trying to manuver in for another shot since the neck shot didn't really phase the deer much, oh yeah, and by this time it's late afternoon. At least they got him, I guess. (not exactly a clean and ethical kill)

Ok so they were back in there "blind" driving along watching all the deer eat the corn off the road. Another nice buck!
Guy 1: Wow, he's a good one, I've gotta try this. (picks up his rifle)
Guy 2: you're really going to try it? he's quite aways off.
Guy 1: yeah, I'd say about 300 yards.
(Deer turns around and starts to run off at a good pace( Full away shot up the bum)
(Blam, Deer piles up)
Guy 2: (After the shot pick up range finder and check distance) Wow, that was over 450 yards, Great shot!

Sorry it was so long, just ticked me off![:@] With shows like this I'd rather there were no shows. And silly me, I have always used my range finder to check distances before I shot. Sooo many things wrong with that show.[&o]

I have all the respect in the world for the whitetail deer. We are priviledged to be able to hunt these awesome animals. I feel that runnin and gunnin em down and then throwin em in a pile is about as disrespectful as it gets. [:'(] To me it's the challenge of the hunt. Trying to outsmart that buck thats never been seen before. Just my thoughts. CH

On the best of Mossy Oaks 1, 2, and 3, two guys were hunting in Texas. The deer winds them and runs out. It is leaping and running everywhere. He says shoot shoot. The guy shoots!

Another hunt on the same show was bad also. A kid was hunting with a rifle in a treestand. He shot at a quartering towards deer and the bulled went through the gut and out the back leg. He said that was a perfect shot!

Why the hell dosent this suprise me?? Us Texans dont badmouth ya'll for doing deer drives, using hounds, hunting bears over grandma's cookies, or for looking like fools wearing head to toe orange, and we dont make fun of you for killing button bucks and acting like you really did something (well only sometimes). Its funny how alot of you guys cant wait to get the chance to start bashing Texas. I just got off of another thread from anther site that was titled "Why the Texas bashing", you yankees need to get over yourselves.

As far as the "high rack/top drive trucks" well look at my handle, and I'm proud to say that I do own a couple of these hunting trucks and jeeps. There is nothing better then driving around the ranch that you own, drinking a margarita, and deer hunting all at the same time. MAN I LOVE IT, only 2 months before rifle season.

the problem is when a big group of 30 to 70 plus hunting club members come through an area in public land the mob or pack mentallity takes over against the lonely guy in the tree. things like crankin up the 2 way radios talking up a storm for 15 minutes before moving on when they know your right there . taking a leak and spitting within close range to the guy in the tree and saying to each other i bet we ruined that guys day!. this happens all the time. the bus pulls up and 50 orange vested african game drive specialists get to work. welcome to hunting NEW JERSEY[:@] thankfully they only hunt one week out of the year

Some of most exciting hunts have come on medium sized drives through thick cedars and swamps. What's more exciting than waiting for the drive to begin and then hearingthe first shot!!

Small to medium sized drives work charms but I am not a fan of the bang the pots and whistle types of drives.

Dude, I can promise you....you're not that important. 99.9% of the "yankees" on here could care less about "texas". It's not texas that we are bashing but rather some of the idiotic shows that just happened to be filmed in texas so how about you just "get over" your own self and hop atop your boy toy highrack tonka truck and roll off into the texas sunset and we'll call ya when we need ya.
