Trouble with rocket steelheads

I've shot rocket steelheads now for two seasons and have killed two deer with them shot through the lungs and I recovered both deer. I shot a buck this year through the lungs and the deer traveled at least 250yards before I found him and the blood trail was scant to say the least. THis year I bought 3 packs off the broadheads and every one of them was not sharp to say the least. A couple of my friends shoot rocket broadheads as well and they all have same complaint of them being not so sharp out of the pack. As far as flight and penetration you cant beat the steelhead 100, but what good is a dull broadhead. Does anyone else find this to be a problem with rocket broadheads. I've shot alot of deer through the lungs and never had one go so far. Thunderhead 100's is what I shot before and everyone knows how sharp thunderheads are. Maybe I got a bad batch of broadheads, or maybe not. THanks for any imput guys.

I have tested a number of Rocket heads, and the steel heads are the best one thing make. I have found just like yourself, that they are all dull! to dull for me to use right out of the box. You can touch them up, but why bother, I just use Rocky snypers when I choose a mechanical, they are sharp and penitrate just as well.

Although I use Rockets exclusively -- and with excellent results -- I'd have to agree with 5 shot; they are not near as sharp as they should be from the factory.
Not questioning your statement, but I've never heard of a deer double-lunged with Rockets travel near that far, razor sharp or not. They are sharp enough, and open up a big enough hole, that I've had all five whitetail I've double-lunged fall within sight (50 yards or less).
I've taken a few others with Rockets which were not double-lunged which traveled farther, but like I said, none which were perfect hits. Even on those, my blood trails looked like they had been poured out of buckets.
Again, just my experience -- as well as those whom I know personally who use the head.

I don't think Rocket knows what sharp is! My steelheads were dull too. I gave them to a friend. He trailed a deer for almost 400 yards with a lung hit. Sharp bh's are a must.
I switched from mechs to T-heads last year....both of my deer went down inside of 40 yards. I'll shoot them again this fall.

I was thinking about switching to Rockets this year, but this post is making me think twice about it. I am a little confused, though. Someone had said they have never had a double lung hit animal go a long way and were attributing that fact to dull broadheads. If the broadhead is sharp enough to put a double lung hit on an animal that is enough to put it down. How far it goes depends on the animal. I have shot a deer that was a double lung hit and grazed the heart and the deer went nearly 400 yards. This wasn't the broadheads' fault, that was just one tough deer. I guess what I'm trying to say is, even with a good shot sometimes an animal is still able to travel far.

HuntingBry,
I would have to disagree with your post.
"If the broadhead is sharp enough to put a double lung hit on an animal that is enough to put it down. How far it goes depends on the animal."
Are you saying the sharp broadheads are not important as long as you have a pass through?
