OK, I'm a big old dumb a**
[:@] I just put a new Hicks slide on my Liberty and like a dummy I went to draw it back to make sure everything was moving as it should ( [:@] with no arrow on the string [:@] )and I got about 1/3 of the way back and you guessed it, it got away from me. Everything looks fine. I don't think I had it back far enough to do any real damage but I also don't want to find out the hard way. What should I look for? I'm not a big fan of my closest BT dealer so I hate to take it to him to check it over. Do you think at that short of a draw it could have damaged anything?

I wouldn't think it did much. Look for cracks and fractures along the limbs. It takes repeated dry firing on most newer bows to really cause damage. Just look it over for cracks and if you don't find any you should be fine. Just make sure to draw it back with an arrow nocked next time.

I would look for stress marks on the curve of the limbs, mostly on the outside edge, also check the end of the limbs where the cams connect to the limbs, check where the limbs connect to the riser, and this one is gonna sound stupid but check around the grip too. I don't think you did any damage, you really diddn't have it drawn back far enough, but check it out just to be safe. I sure it will be fine.

I have looked it over, and I'm no expert, but I don't see anything wrong. I sure have a lot more fletching clearance now with the Hicks slide. Before, I could shoot my GT 75/95 with offset 4" feathers with just a little clearance and some Axis arrows I have with right helical 4" feathers would not clear at all. Now they both seems to have plenty of clearance. Now if I can just get up the nerve to draw it back to shoot it without the fear of it coming apart on me..... [

I don't think you would have damaged it if you were at full draw. Most, if not all, companies test their bows by dry firing them. Granted, I wouldn't do it a lot nor do the manufacturers recommend it. However, most bows, especially yours, are very well made, and can take it.
