    Use this URL http://terraserver.microsoft.com/ .It's still terraserver but run by microsoft. You can get the higher resolution pics for free without registering unlike www.terraserver.com

    free, but the pics could be up to 6 yrs old or more. Still a great source though. May also want to check into Terrafly.com. It's partially free, as a teaser.
