Great idea about the firemans light - they're super bright and rechargeable - and I just happen to be a firefighter hmmmm

I'd say a cordless rechargeable spotlight would get my vote as tops followed closely by the Coleman lantern.

Blue lenses or lights suck! And the LED flashlights are not much better in my experience.

Use a candle!
All the moths and burned eyebrows will make you think 2 about shooting at low light.
Candles are also less expensive

In Africa, we use candles . You can buy a packet of 6 candles for about R2.00 (about $0.30) Zippo's are a bit more expensive out here though.....

I've tried the blue colored light and it also makes the blood look black. It does make it stand out against the ground though.

I use a mini-maglight if I'm pretty sure where it went down (heard or seen). I go back to my truck for the BIG maglight (5 D cell) if I'm not sure where it is.

The sun is the best light source in my opinion. [8D] The next best thing for me would be a rechargeable spotlight.

The double mantle coleman lantern is the best light source I've ever used. It just seems to make the blood almost glow for some reason. They really do work well.

A Coleman Lantern is by far the best; apparently it is the blue spector that allows the blood to effervess. Last year I bought a Princeton Tec LED and I'm looking forward to trying it [it's bright and has a blue aura.].
