I always liked Skyline camo.....I used the Apparition quite successfully back in the 97-99 seasons. (Pic is from 97' here in PA)

The Apparition had that nice open look to it and was great in treestands. Order of preference for all camo for me would be ASAT, Predator Fall Brown, then Skyline Apparition.

Thanks for the replies. I saw a jacket with this pattern in a pro shop and it looked decent, but I was concerned that it might be a little dark.

Jeff B., thanks for the info. I sure wouldn't want something to fall apart.

You know...In all fairness I should have edited my post. In recent years the company folded and then was bought out by some other folks. It's quite possible they are using a different company nowadays to sew the clothing. If you like the pattern, I would inquire with them if they are using the same clothing manufacturer as before. Based on what I have seen on their Yahoo e-commerce store, the clothes seem the exact same as regards to styles etc, but it's possible they could be made better than they used to be.

Oh..and I think I've correctly remembered the name of the pattern I was talking about ...Openwoods...anyone who has watched the old "Quest" hunting videos with Wade Nolan will recognize it. It looks similar to Sticks N' Limbs.

I do know that Clarkfield Outdoors, and Day-One were making gear in Skyline patterns in recent years. I would check with them. They both have websites (but Clarkfield does not sell to the public, only to dealers).

I think it'd be a nice camo if you lived in an area with a lot of that type of growth around. here in the Evergreen State however, i need something a little more...Pine-y?

Anyone who knows of a good Pine Tree like pattern, a link would be greatly appreciated!

Here's a few good "green" patterns..the first two will be closest to a true "piney" camo

Ridge Ghost (scroll down a bit for closeups)

NatGear Evergreen

Predator Deception green

Predator Spring Green

looks good for treestand hunting, it all works as long as it breaks up your outline!

Coug,

I went over to the website and really went through thier catalog zooming in on their pics of the clothing.

It looks to me like they are using a different manufacturer these days..either that or have just upgraded all the belts, zippers, styles, etc.

I may grab some of the Xtreme pattern in fleece to see how they have improved. They have 3a 0 day return policy as long as the tags are still on.

I have the insulated bibs and jacket in Apparition. The pattern is much more open than the excel. I've had real good experience with that pattern out of the treestand. The quality isn't great but you can get some outstanding deals in their clearance section and once the season is over they typically run a sale for a few months where everything is 25% off. As an example I picked up the insulated hooded jacket and the insulated bibs both for around $80. I think the jacket was on clearance for 30 and I got 25% off the bibs so ithey were around 50. I know I paid more than that just for the Predator Parka.

I've had their stuff for a couple of seasons and they're holding up real well and their materials are real colorfast.

It's funny though when I think about it. I have early season, mid season and late season camo and I have gore tex rain gear....

I could have just bought Predator Fall Brown.
