Thanks Len for the post. I too will be sticking with the Axis. When I placed my inserts I actually layed them on our pool table (it was the most level thing I could find, luckily i didn't have any problems. I can keep these in about a baseball size group at 40 yards, so that will work for me. anyway good luck to all.

You always should spin any arrow from any manufactorer before you buy them.I know that I spun a couple of dozen Axis before I got the dozen that were acceptable(perfect) for me.Following the directions and using common sense,the HIT system worked like a charm,and fleched them up with 4in. Duravanes.They group very well,and they are still grouping after several hundred shots.Besides that,with two flo orange and one flo green vanes,they look really cool....Bob

at a recent "show" at a local sporting goods megastore ,i spoke to a hoyt rep about these arrows,he showed me how they go together and the benifits of the hit system and he had me sold on them ,but after reading lens findings i think i'll wait and stick with my trusty aluminum!

These arrows and their concept look great. The first experiences locally seem to bear out their durability. I have read on other forums about them taking a memory or losing their spine, but friend at a local shop has not had that problem, and he has shot them a ton.

I have shot ACCs for many years, and they are awesome. Not sure what Len's report is on them not being as durable, but I have had no problems with them in that area. Too bad we all can't spin several dozens to get a straight batch. My local shop won't stock supplies of them due to their cost and difficulty to assemble.

I am waiting for my first dozen to test. Thanks for sharing your experiences with them.

Have you found, as I have that the Axis are hard on bag targets? Seems they penetrate farther and actually blow through my Morrel bag. What I mean by blowing through is that they blow a large chunk of the stuffing out the other side creating a large hole when they pass through. Course I've only shot aluminums, terminator hunters, and vapor 4000's into the bag and its stopped them.

Guess there actually is something to the skinnier shaft penetrating better.

*On a side note, I've tried the Wasp Boss SST 100 grain, using 3 four inch offset feathers without great results. While they do fly close to field points, I get some drastic flyers. I can shoot helicals out of my bow because of the drop away rest but my boy still has the prong type rest. G5 100 grains shoot to point, but I'd like them sharper. But I'd rather shoot a G5 through the lungs, then a razor blade type through the guts. Might have to buy the kid a drop away and do some more testing with helical or Quikspin vanes. Good luck on the search for a standard insert. Keep us informed.
