Default My take on the new Monster Bucks XII

I stopped by Gander Mountain on Saturday, and the new volumes of Monster Bucks were in. I've been looking forward to the new release for quite a while, and I purchased both volumes.

First of all, David Blanton needs to shave that fuzzy mess off of his face. There are two types of people in this world; those who look good with facial hair and those who do not. David Blanton belongs to the latter. He reminded me of a 14 year boy that is trying to grow his first fuzz-stache. Pretty funny.

They need to get off of this archery tournament kick as the side show. It is an extremely tired idea, and they ought to move on. Not only is it getting old, but it is also revealing the fact that Bill Jordan is a lousy shot. That guy couldn't hit a bullseye if it was already stuck to the end of his arrow. Watching him in the tournament causes me to wonder how many of his on-camera shots don't make te final release. Get some new material! If they don't, my guess is that they will begin to fall behind in the hunting video market. However, Willie and T-Bone are still true to form. Foxworthy is hilarious. I bust a gut over his comment about ruining the stack of Auto Traders. You just gotta see it.

It seemed like there were fewer bow hunts this year. I get little bored with the gun hunts. I just find the bowhunts more exciting to watch (and experience first hand). I also quickly tire of the Texas sundero (sp?) hunts. I watch them the first time through, but fast foward past them in subsequent viewings. I'm not sure why they turn me off. They just seem a little canned, and the Texas bucks look a little wimpy to me, despite the racks. Give me a Canadian bruiser any day!

Despite my cynicism, I still love watching these videos. They really did bag some dandy bucks this year. There's a bunch in the 170's and one even tipping 190. Real beauts. I'm looking forward to the Buck Fever release. They spend more time in Illinois, and usually stick some real giants. They seem to focus more on bowhunting. That's where it's at for me.

Well, that's my take. Definitely worth watching, IMHO.

I think your summary of the series in general is right on. I did not yet see the most recent installment but am basing it on the previous few years'.

I thought that this years Monster Bucks 12 videos were awesome! I thought that the new ideas for the bow tournament were cool. Like the tire on fire and the buck with a metal shield around it. T-Bone and Willy were helarious. I throughly enjoyed both volumes. And why would they have "canned" hunts! It is called quality deer management. Team Realtree RULES!
Make no mistake. I do enjoy watching the MB videos. I just think they need a new concept. I thought the fire tire trick was cool, but did you see Bill's shot?! Pathetic! I'm telling you, that guy couldn't shoot his way out of a wet paper bag! I'm not saying the hunts are canned. I'm just saying that to me they seem a little manufactured. It's just too easy. I guess I'm just a little biased toward bowhunting from a good ol' oak tree in the thick stuff - not on a road from an elevated mini-condominium with a shooting bench. It just seems lame to me. The crowd of people in the condo sit there holding a normal-voice conversation about whether to shoot the massive buck that's standing broadside in the wide open in front of them. To each their own.

These hunts aren't all that "canned"...they are forced to be somewhat creative in some areas simply to bring it all together but these boys spend some serious time in tree stands on land that is scouted hard prior to their arrival.

I just want to clarify that my "canned" perception is only pertaining to the Texas hunts. I reallize that they likely spend more time in a treestand than any average three of us combined. I'm sure they work hard for the bucks they kill. That's why I love these hunting videos. I can appreciate what it takes to achieve what they have.

Havent seen the newest of the series yet, but have the older ones. Im still cracking up about what he said about Bill Jordan, it is true. Anyway I have a foxworthy you might be a redneck deerhunter if... and I think watching it was a waste of time. It seemed very stupid to me. Anyway have you ever seen the realtree home videos video? That is interesting, its not all hunts but it is very enjoyable to watch.

I just got whitetail madness 5 for the birthday. Pretty good bucks in it, i wish i had the time and money to travel the country hunting whitetail. Drury brothers make some high quality videos.

I, myself like the archery tourney inbetween some of the hunts. With this years misses, it shows they're average guys. We all miss! I enjoy the productions. And yep, even the Texas hunts! I'd love to be able to afford a hunt on the King ranch or whatever. BTW, over the years, Bill Jordan has taken some Monsters with a bow. Have to agree that David has to lose the facial hair though. And I still like Michael bowhunting the best. Just my humble opinion on the series. I also watch several other series of productions, the Drury brothers, and the Truth series. Probably like the Monster Bucks series the best. Have a good one.
