Default My take on the new Monster Bucks XII

I stopped by Gander Mountain on Saturday, and the new volumes of Monster Bucks were in. I've been looking forward to the new release for quite a while, and I purchased both volumes.

First of all, David Blanton needs to shave that fuzzy mess off of his face. There are two types of people in this world; those who look good with facial hair and those who do not. David Blanton belongs to the latter. He reminded me of a 14 year boy that is trying to grow his first fuzz-stache. Pretty funny.

They need to get off of this archery tournament kick as the side show. It is an extremely tired idea, and they ought to move on. Not only is it getting old, but it is also revealing the fact that Bill Jordan is a lousy shot. That guy couldn't hit a bullseye if it was already stuck to the end of his arrow. Watching him in the tournament causes me to wonder how many of his on-camera shots don't make te final release. Get some new material! If they don't, my guess is that they will begin to fall behind in the hunting video market. However, Willie and T-Bone are still true to form. Foxworthy is hilarious. I bust a gut over his comment about ruining the stack of Auto Traders. You just gotta see it.

It seemed like there were fewer bow hunts this year. I get little bored with the gun hunts. I just find the bowhunts more exciting to watch (and experience first hand). I also quickly tire of the Texas sundero (sp?) hunts. I watch them the first time through, but fast foward past them in subsequent viewings. I'm not sure why they turn me off. They just seem a little canned, and the Texas bucks look a little wimpy to me, despite the racks. Give me a Canadian bruiser any day!

Despite my cynicism, I still love watching these videos. They really did bag some dandy bucks this year. There's a bunch in the 170's and one even tipping 190. Real beauts. I'm looking forward to the Buck Fever release. They spend more time in Illinois, and usually stick some real giants. They seem to focus more on bowhunting. That's where it's at for me.

Well, that's my take. Definitely worth watching, IMHO.
