Fletching Tape
#1
Does anybody use fletching tape for fletching with feathers? How well does it work? Will it work with the cresting wraps? I just ordered some feathers, crsting wrpas and tape. I hope it works well.

I had a pro shop fletch my feathers with fletching tape and it cost me 2 dozen arrows. First off the tape would not allow for the ends of the feathers to stay in contact with the shaft and this caused more noise in flight. I I saved those arrows for parctice. when it came time to refletch I took them to another proshop and inorder to get the fletchings off they would have to sand the shafts. I just don't think it is a good idea to sand on carbon shafts. so I shot the arrow until virtually aal of the fletchings were off and pitched 2 dozen Gold Tips. I will never use it again. The proshop I use now Fletches great straight to the shaft.

Ive used fletching tape for years and the stuff works great, I prefer the Feather Fletch brand over the Bohning by far. You must put a dab of glue on the leading and trailing edge as you should with any fletch job. Ive shot them through wooden stockade fences ( by accident ) and the feather still remain intact.

I have had great results with the tape. I use it both on carbon and aluminum. I do put a drop of glue on the front and back of each feather to hold them down. I find it holds well, and is still easy to remove.

I use it and love the stuff! It dries fast and IMO is easier to clean off. Never had a problem with feathers coming off exept once I used the rong kind of alcohol to clean the shaft. Dido on the two drops and also I don't use the bohning stuff, not sure what brand but it comes in a small plastic case. A little tricky at first but after a few arrows you get the hang of it.
