I don't even know what to say to that. Eating his balls?
Do you think they taste like chicken?

You don't loose much only four things. Loins, ribs, heart and liver. Loins are very tender but are very small on a small deer.
I don't gut my deer much and am still able to take the loins without gutting the deer. That way you only loose the liver, heart, and ribs.

Hikchick. Welcome aboard. You too made some great points.

Matthews. Eating the balls. I don't think I could do that.

I should have made my last post clearer. Some hunters may use the bones to make whatever, I do not. Am I wasting the bones? Factually, yes. As I stated before, not using the front shoulders is not right if you or others you know can use them. And I believe that after this particularily long post, Fieldmouse will be looking to alternatives to dispensing the meat he may not use. We can all hope.

I agree but I think we all know that will never happen. As the saying goes "you can lead the horse to water but you can't make him drink."

You guys are bustin my nuts! eating deer balls? Now I've heard it all.
I dont care for deer meat that much so I just take a few steaks to eat and then grind the whole rest of the deer and make jerky out of it, shoot it out of one of those caulking gun jerky maker kits if you've ever seen one. THAT TASTES FANTASTIC!. The kids are on it like a hobo on a ham sandwich. As fast as you can make it it's gone. One time a spike I shot was really rank tasting so I fed the whole thing to the dog, little by little,
But--------I NEVER waste any! [except for the balls]

By the way, I gut my deer. Who wants to drag an extra 30 pounds up the mountain?

Just for the record, I can normally get a 4-wheeler within 50 yards of my deer
