Default How do you give back?

I'm curious if and how the members of this board give back to bowhunting? Are there any bow hunting safty instructers amoung us? Or do you try to get new individuals into the sport? Just curious of the diffrent ways we give back to our community.

As usual,
Thanks

I presently am only trying to get friends involved but had thought about volenteering to help with bow hunting saftey courses.

I joined a local 3D club and have since started donating web hosting space to them and registered a domain name for them so they can have a web site. I also help them with part of their web site maintenance. It's not much, but it my little contribution. Hopefully, the web site will help their membership grow and in a round about way I will have helped bring more people into archery.

Being in a great sport & starting my 48th year of Bowhunting Biggame I feel I have tried to give my entire archery career.
Back in the 60s & 70s I was President, Vice president, secretary & about any other office at one time or another in the local archery club. I was Northern Rep. for the state Bowhunting Division & also a rep. for the state target Division (at different times). I was the originator of the Archery Corner column in a state wide sports paper. I owned & operated 2 Archery Pro shop & lanes for over 15 years & in that time have no idea how many people I introduced & taught to shoot a bow & arrow. I was always active at the local & state level & sponsored a couple archers in big pro/am tournys. I was instrumental in having the Black Bear in Mn. removed from varmit to game animal & also in helping swing the ruling of number of Bucks that could be harvested in a year in Illinois. I have always tried to conduct myself as a professional & never to convey anything negative about our sport whether it be another archer/bowhunter or a person not in tune with my sport. I think ALL the shooting/hunting sports have their place & we are all one. I currently make informational videos (since 1990) & try to pass on what I have been taught by many over the years to those who may want to try & expand their Bowhunting. I have been blessed to have met & known many archers/bowhunters over the years-some are famous by our standards & others are like me-We just love the sport & what it has given us. Family & our creator of course is 1st & Archey/Bowhunting is the rest.
If you give just a little it will come back 10 times greater..Enjoy.
This is a pic of the start of my 48th year in bowhunting-March 2004 900# Buffalo at 40 yards.

I've served 17 terms as an officer in local clubs. Currently serving another term this year. I lost count of how many people I've helpted get started in archery/bowhunting at well over 100 and I'm still at it.

One of my favorite things I've done in the past couple of years is doing an archery campout with a Boy Scout troop. The kids loved learning how to make bows and arrows from the natural materials around them and they had a blast shooting their bows. The scoutmaster said a couple of their 'problem' kids that had never before really participated in any of their activities showed a great deal of interest and enthusiasm for archery and were begging to do it again.

I guarantee you, I went home happy that day. Sure hope I get to do that again.
