The liner sounds like a good bet to me. That way you can layer yourself according to the weather with your normal camo it seems. If I bought it though I'd probably go the whole 9 yards with a full suit. I'm scared to ask but how much are we talking for say some bibs and a parka with layers??

Jason

you will love the new scent lok. It is so much lighter and thinner than the style you are using now. The new scent lok material is as thin as a cotton shirt. It has come a long way the past couple years. My brother has the savanna series bibs. The camo looks like crap after 1 season. I would shy away from this material. JMO.

Do a little searching and start now! There is so much to look at you should start looking now and keep up with it so that you can make an informed decision when you're ready. Good luck!

Well if you are goin the whole 9 yards buy the MT050 gore tex scent lok suit.
MT050 gore tex pants. scent lok, $179.95
MT050 gore tex jacket scent lok, $189.95
Plus $20-$30 for a head cover.

This set is top of line line. I wear it all season. I just layer underneath it. I was warmer with the gore tex this winter than any other winter.

Cold weather I wear polyproplene long johns, Thick felece warm up suit, then thick cotton jogging suit.

Keeps me plenty warm under the gore tex

There was a time when I wanted a scent lok suit. It was WAY overpriced IMO.

Then the prices began to come down just a bit--to make it more tempting. But by then, I'd learned (on this board) that the pores become "filled" after a period of time and the recharge method that they recommend isn't effective because most dryers don't reach the temps required for this to occur. I had the opportunity to buy some a week ago at Cabela's. I passed and plan on remaining obsessed with my scent control and playing the wind. It's worked great for over 20 years.

One other thing. Who among us HASN'T had deer walk directly downwind without appearing to notice the scent? I've had deer circle me completely many times during turkey season--when scent control isn't a concern for me--and they never seemed to notice.

Early archery season here in KY is way too warm to wear anything but a tshirt and pants. I don't think the new SL clothing is as light as a cotton T shirt and I don't want anything that is going to make me sweat more than I already am. It probably does help, I just don't think it's going to help me enough to justify the downsides.

So, alloutdoors, a deer walked right up to you while you were wearing a suit. Big deal. I've got a better story.

One day I'd gotten way too early a start after staying up way too late the night before with a little too much Chivas Regal. Leaned back against a tree and took a nap. Snoozing my little butt off - just me and Shania Twain in the Dreamland Mountains - when all of a sudden I got this cold nose on the back of my neck and heard a weird snuffling sound come from behind me.

Coming almost back to reality, the thought that I was being attacked by some toothy wild critter entered my mind and I about jumped out of my skin. Apparently the same thought occurred to that flippin' critter at about the same time and she picked the same escape route that I did. Things got pretty exciting for a few seconds, until I finally realized I was getting the crap beat out of me by a doe, so I turned loose of her neck and let her go.

Having a deer walk right up to you is NOT a unique experience. And it does NOT require scentlock clothing. In fact, it does NOT require a whole scent elimination regimen. Sometimes all it takes is being dead tired and hungover.

Maybe someday someone will do some reasearch and find out a good hangover from Scotch or bourbon is a surefire deer lure. Then we can spend our money on good booze instead of clothes and get good'n snockered the night before the hunt.

In the meantime... I'll hunt like the lion. No scent containment BS, only ordinary hygiene. Then it's my skill and luck against the animal's skill and luck. May the best one win.

RE: Scent lok-who has never spent a dime on it?

I used Scentlok for a few years. I don't think the benefit is worth the cost. That's just my opinion but I killed more deer this year than I did in the 3 previous years that I was wearing Scentlok and to the best of my knowledge never got busted. Now I don't doubt some deer smelled me and just never let me know about it. However, I killed a buck at 15 yards straight down wind and I wasn't 12 feet off the ground on one oocaision. On another occaision I had 5 does and 130 class buck come in and stage up 50 yards straight down wind of me for about 20 minutes. I even powder tested the air and my scent was blowing straight to them. But there was nothing I could do. Finally those deer came in but the only one that gave me a shot was close to the base of my tree that I couldn't shoot. I think scent lok can help significantly for a short period of time and then it's useless. I tried it, I can afford, but I just can't justify spending that money on something that I came to realize was not needed. JMO
