RE: Scent lok-who has never spent a dime on it?
So what you are saying is that there is a camo SL long sleeve t shirt that is as thin as cotton Tshirt? If there is great! If not, then it is too hot for me to wear in early bow season. I understand what you mean with the heat. We sometimes get some pretty hot days in the early archery season here too. Dude, don't you think you ought to bring it down a notch or two? Thats like me badmouthing your LX when I have next to no experience with it. Sure I have shot one a few times but not enough to down grade it. Such as trying a pair of pants on in the store and saying they are no good with no furthur experience with them. I can say for a fact my outfit is a quiet as feleece, no exaggration at all. |

Gotcha. Sometimes these messageboards can get you riled up! Take it easy.

its just more little thing that might mean the difference between getting a deer and not getting a deer. I think its worth every penny. I was not winded once this year and the 9 point that i shot came from directly down wind of me. I also hunt high, rubber boots, sprays and scent wafers too. sometimes they do make you sweat so most of the time i walk into the woods and when i get about 100-200 yards from my stand, i suit up and spray down and take my time. i am starting on my second suit and i think they are worth every penny

Scent-lok may work for the first year , two years tops! After that you have yourself an expensive set of regular camo clothing. And I do speak from experience! Dont waste your fricken money! Theres alot of excellent scent eliminating or scent cover sprays out there for roughly $5-$8 a bottle.

alloutdoors, buckeye and everyone else who believes in this stuff. GO FOR IT. It's not my money you're spending.
This scentlock stuff is like many other things in bowhunting today. Regardless of it's real effectiveness, whether it's got any definite benefit, there are people who believe these products work. Fine! I used to have a special wrist band I absolutely had to wear when I went on the court for a basketball game. I know all about good luck charms and mojo. And that's really all we're talking about here. But please, spare us non-believers the attitude. Just because you can't live without it doesn't mean the rest of us have to use it too. |

I have never bought any, but I can't say that I never will. I just use a little of the sent eliminator spray and then I use a plant from where I am hunting for cover, ie. sage brush, pine, juniper berries or anything else that is around. I also watch the wind.

RE: Scent lok-who has never spent a dime on it?
Let's face it, it's the revenues generated from these items that keep our sport healthy and gives us leverage as a group. The purchases made by people like us and the positive impact it has on economy is what maintains our hunting grounds, pays for our lobbies, and keeps the sport alive. In light of this, I'm not knocking anyone's choice to buy this stuff.
What makes me a bit sour is that since these ultra expensive brand name garments have hit the market, the selection on practical clothing seems to have shrunk disproportionately. Has anyone else noticed this? I was on a quest to find a nice pair of camo pants to replace the five year old Remington's I'd been wearing earlier this year. I went to Shyda's (a big local hunting clothes dealer), Cabelas (about 10 times), Gander Mountain, and a slew of bow and hunting shops to try to find a nice pair. What I found was a gross inflation caused inevitably by the eighteen brand tags on each of these garments. I literally could not find a well designed pair of pants for under 60 bucks. Buttoned pockets, belt loops, and adjustable pants cuffs are nothing new, and it doesn't take a brand stamp or exceptional R&D to produce. My gripe is not being to find such features on anything but scent or rain clothing, both types of which were driven sky high in price by the tags. I ended up with a pair of Natural Gear fleece pants for 30 bucks at a sports show. They leave much to be desired in terms of design, but they're warm, quiet, and kept me from having to lobby my wife and my own conscience to buy. Anyone seen a good pair of lightweight, quiet pants for a reasonable price? |
RE: Scent lok-who has never spent a dime on it?
I am starting my 48th year of Bowhunting Biggame & have never used it.
I am always aware of wind direction & do use Sex scents (Deer, Elk, hog) when hunting these animals. I do not use any other coverups. If I am in a tree & the wind is not swerling I have no problems being only 8 feet off the ground thou mostly hunt from 12 & 15 (I use ladder stands). On the ground I just set up according to the wind. |

But please, spare us non-believers the attitude. Just because you can't live without it doesn't mean the rest of us have to use it too. You are failing to see the attitudes the non-believers have given us, you only recognize the ones that were returned back it was a 2 way street. It take two to tango, or something like that;) |
RE: Scent lok-who has never spent a dime on it?
