Default String Stretch.

I accidently dry-fired my bow. I took it to the bow shop and they said the only problem was the string stretched. I am going to go 3d shooting this weekend. I haven't had time to shoot tonight. Will the extra 1/4 inch string affect my accuracy?

Very very probable. Twist it back up to the length it was before you dry fired it.

Zak didn't your little brother recently dry fire your bow also? Man you must be snake bit. If you fully dry fired it, I'd have them look it over very thoroughly.

First you would have needed to mark where your cam, cams, were in relation to your limbs or other measurements that you could use as a referance. If you didn't do this and you know for sure that it streched only 1/4 of an inch then put it in a press so you can remove your string and add about 5 - 10 twists to the string. The number of twists will vary depending on how long your string is. The longer the string the more twists you will need to add.

Unless the shop was VERY familiar with your bow, or the cams are marked somehow, I find it hard to believe they can say your string stretched. Possible, but most likely without one of the above its a guess.

anyway, to "fix" it, do what bigbulls said above, need a press.

If it did stretch the effects would be longer draw length, higher draw weight and the nock point would have moved slightly.

I would suggest taking a few shots and see for yourself if anything is off.

I would agree with Bob.If there are no visible signs of any kind of failure,go out and shoot it.If your off you know something changed, then do your adjustments.

Sounds like you need to get to know your bow better as far as the mechanics is concerned. Now is a good place to start.
