YA- know guys this isnt a funny topic, those little buggers can be very vengful, me and my uncle elmer fudd, we harvested one of those beasts durning the rut last year and for three months after that we had a whole pack of em stalking us every where we went it was down right frighting. they got the memory like an elaphant, two years later we went back to the same spot we got that one and there they were waiting for us it was like they knew what we were doing every minute of the day. they killed my cat slyvester, my brothers tom & jerry well lets just say they aren't around any more, so if you go after one make sure he's all alone....

Jack-A-lope- a hybrid between a jackrabbit and an antelope, right ?
What the hell do they have mule deer horns on them for ? Wouldn't that be a Jackadeer ? Or a Jackamule ?

Here in northern Illinois most have died off for some odd reason?I have found that baiting them with lettuce, carrots and Elmer fudd decoy's work quite well,Daffy duck decoys work but only durring "duck season"or is that rabbit season? No its duck season no it's .................Stalking them can be real exiting they do have good eye sight cause of all the carrots they eat,but there sense of smell isn't the best. There hearing is probably as good as there near cousin the whitetail deer. They are actually a closer realative to the whitetail than the cottontail, yet demonstrate carrictaristics of a razzor back hog.I hit one once too, with my car and got a flat from it's teeth, they hide them well, but man are they sharp and long. That was the only one that I ever ate. I wrapped it in bacon and made a wine gravy and served it over wild rice. It's pretty good this way.Bill D>

I've seen them here at the jersey shore. They hide among the dunes. The season here runs the same time as the swallop season, though you need decoys for them. I believe the jackalopes feed on the swallop eggs. Hope this helps.

dr.stalker, never tried that recipe but its sounds good and I'll try that this year if I get drawn. The dang non-residents been coming up here shooting rabbits in there excitement and the numbers of both have twindled, we have to take an identification test on the diff between a lope and a rabbit and some of the pictures were tough. I'm going to put in for Hunting Unit 401 and 402 were I am guaranteed a permit and I have heard of lopes in there that have gone 60 inches B/C. Its just as challenging as a bear or hog hunt I think. Good Luck,
Bobby
