I am really considering doing bow shoot-outs this summer. I was just wondering if the Bow i have is okay. I have a Bowning single cam compound with cobra stabilizers and silencers. I have a truglo sight and cobra rest. I am a cheap guy, but I am not going to go out and spend $1000 on a Mathews bow and then have to buy all the accessories just to shoot it and not including the arrows. Would my bow at #55 be alright for some competitions?

I would think the top pros could win with just about any modern compound. So, obviously some bows have advantages over others, but winning still comes down to how good the shooter is. JMO.

IMHO, 3D shoots are a great way to stay in shape for hunting season. You will find that the VAST majority of the shooters at a 3D shoot are also hunters. It's a fun way to surround yourself with like minded people and get some really good competition in.
3D is a great way to practice your skills for hunting if you go to the tournaments with the right mindset. I go to my 3D shoots with my bow and gear setup just like I would if I were out hunting. Don't be embarissed to do so. A bunch of people at every shoot do the same thing.
The added tension of being in a competition is a good thing. The nerves you get are similar to a hunting situation and that is a positive thing.
Just go and have FUN

I'm going to be shooting 3Ds mostly. These are just some local area shoots that cash prizes and such are given away as rewards. I am hoping to have a lot of fun. I just hope i can still be in the shootouts when I am only 16.[&:]

If it is good enough to hunt with then it is good enough to shoot 3D with!
Alot of people shoot 3D to keep in practice for hunting. If you are comfortable with it and like the bow, by all means shoot it in 3D.

I shoot alot of 3-D and the game is won between 25 and 35 yards. Hold your own on the long and you got her wooped. These guys are correct with saying that it is all in the shooter. If you can judge the yardage and shoot well, you can win with a bow shooting 150 fps. Go with the attitude to beat yourself and nobody else and before you know it you will be bringing home the trophies.

The vast majority of guys and gals I see at 3D shoot their hunting bows. I see no reason yours won't work fine. I shoot spots sometimes with my hunting bow. I stay right with the spotties, just fewer Xs. I always loved the saying, "Fear the man with one gun". Could be one bow just as easily.
