IMHO, 3D shoots are a great way to stay in shape for hunting season. You will find that the VAST majority of the shooters at a 3D shoot are also hunters. It's a fun way to surround yourself with like minded people and get some really good competition in.

3D is a great way to practice your skills for hunting if you go to the tournaments with the right mindset. I go to my 3D shoots with my bow and gear setup just like I would if I were out hunting. Don't be embarissed to do so. A bunch of people at every shoot do the same thing.

The added tension of being in a competition is a good thing. The nerves you get are similar to a hunting situation and that is a positive thing.
