I am contiplating new food plots this year and would like to hear suggestions. I am in the middle of farm country with 150 acres of mostly grass and trees. 15 acres of milo-35 acres of crp-30 acres of brome with the balance being creek and trees with a limited amount of native grass. The crp has 2 food plots which are in milo this year but didn't do well due to lack of fertilizer and rain. I am considering adding food plots in the brome field as well as the pasture, but I am not sure which direction to go since I already have milo I was thinking of maybe planting a clover or beans. Let me know your thoughts.

I like clover because it is perennial. And the deer like it too. Go with a variety used in pastures (Jumbo, Ladino, Alice). You could also mix in some grasses, but it is the clover they are really gonna eat. I like the idea of regular clover that you can buy at your local feed/farm store rather than the fancy mixes that cost an arm and a leg. I think you can get just as good results (or better) with less costs. With your amount of acres you may want to have different plots with different plants that grow at different times of year. Search the web for info (search: food plots, deer plots, etc.). There are some really good sights that can give u info on size, location, what to plant, etc. Don't forget to soil sample and add amendments as needed.
