That's sweet looking Matt, if you don't mind I think I'm going to borrow your idea...........wish I would've seen the photo before I cut the rack off of my 8 pt. this season. It looks nice and can't say that I've seen a European mount like that before, very nice indeed.

One idea you might want to try.... cut your skull plate out as close to 90 degrees as you can get. clean it REALLY good. Take a plaque of nice pine, attach a small shelf just big enough for the skull plate. Mount the skull plate flush to the 90 degree of the plaque and shelf. Now, get out your little butane or propane torch and lightly scorch the wood and skull plate until you get the color you like. Its really kind on neat looking when your done. By the way, those are some really nice homemade mount jobs guys. Especially like the pedestal european mounts.
