RE: Huntingnet Promotes Hunts Behind Fences!
I understand that people don't care for the so called canned hunts I for one don't approve but if it is legal why do we have to seperate one group of hunters from others. you see this deception with baiting, hounds, archery vs gun the focus should be on preserving hunting as a whole not what you believe or dis believe in. I don't care for a lot of things other hunters but I support them because they are hunters....

RE: Huntingnet Promotes Hunts Behind Fences!
I personally wouldn't participate in a canned hunt, but I have no problem with others who want to harvest an animal for food or personal trophy. It's no different than going to the grocery store for beef, there is 100% chance you will come out with beef, same can be said for canned hunts.

Anyone here remember the old CBS "documentary" The Guns of Autumn? |
RE: Huntingnet Promotes Hunts Behind Fences!
That is hunting for some people. If it's legal and you got the money go for it.
I don't try to shove my idea of hunting down anyones throat. I don't think any of you should either. |
RE: Huntingnet Promotes Hunts Behind Fences!
I personally would never hunt in a high fenced area because, as belle island put it, it really is the same as going to the grochery store to buy beef. Thats' not what hunting is all about. If can compare it to grocery shopping, it really cant be called hunting at all.

RE: Huntingnet Promotes Hunts Behind Fences!
theres shooting and theres hunting.caned hunts are shooting i don't care if it's 10 acres or 10000 acres it's shooting. whats the differants seeing the deer yourself on 10 acres or having a guild point it out on 10000 acres.the point here is the game is there your just waiting to shoot it. it's not hunting.hunting is looking for game that may or maynot be there it's finding it YOURSELF that's hunting not paying someone to find it for you.yes i'm a poor bas&^&^ and i'm not a lazy arse that has to be pointed around and cared for because i'm to stupid to find my way back.does it bother me HE^^ no

RE: Huntingnet Promotes Hunts Behin... (in reply to farmcntry) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am sure its hard to check out the scruples of each advertiser, even legalities may be involved, I have no idea about that. Contact Hunting.net with your concerns. And, just to head anybody off at the pass.....I have never even seen the ad, I am not connected to the business. I would be willing to bet that the outfit in question follows all laws pertaining to its operation. Be very careful when riding a tall horse...it is a long way to the ground. |
RE: Huntingnet Promotes Hunts Behind Fences!
There are hunters and there are killers. I guess it's up to the individual what they want to be. The idea of buying an animal to release and kill is pretty pathetic to me.

RE: Huntingnet Promotes Hunts Behind Fences!
People "buy" farm raised game birds that are released "into the wild" to be "hunted" at preserves all over the country. Probably some of you have been to one.
I for one will not participate either type of penned hunt. But like others have said, how can you dictate who can hunt what as long as it is legal. If it bothers you then I wouldn't stop at contacting this forums admin, I would contact your congressman and some sporting coalitions and try to change the law. |
RE: Huntingnet Promotes Hunts Behind Fences!
High fences, food plots, feeders, controlled hunting pressure all contribute to a "canned hunt" as I see it.
There are farm animals and there are wild animals. Some people like to pick out their meat and others like to work for it. It has been said, often on this site, that a "trophy" is in the eye of the beholder. However, a lot of Outdoor shows and hunting videos have been continually showing these "canned" hunts and making it look easy. I even had a guy that likes to fish and watch these outdoor shows ask me why I hadn't gotten a buck yet. He doesnt hunt and can't understand why I would spend 20 days in the woods pursuing a buck. He said, "just go to an outfitter and get one." These hunts may be legal and they may appeal to a lot of hunters. That doens't automatically mean that they should be endorsed by all as far as I am concerned. TBO |
