RE: Huntingnet Promotes Hunts Behind Fences!

Hey BC,

I will jump in on your side. 5 acres is a good bit of land. That is like a 250X100 yard plot (5 football fields). If there is thick brush, a deer could circle around you with no problem. Lets see, these deer have better hearing than humans, a better sense of smell, a better lay of the land, plus that other "magical" unknown sense of danger! I have seen deer do some crazy and some stealthy stuff that most guys wouldn't believe. I have seen deer lay down in fields and lay there chins on the ground, and just disappear. I have seen deer go into dried out creek beds and crawl under a patch of multi-floral rose that makes a "bridge across the creek bed. Heck, in my woods is probablly one of the most amazing "stealth tricks" I have seen deer do/make. There is a big green briar thicket (probablly 30X40 yards). There are no trails into the patch of green briar, but, the deer bed in a little cleared out spot in the cneter. Now, like I said, this is INCREDIBLY thick green briar, and there is no way a deer could just walk into it. They have a spot where they jump over a low green briar bush about 4 feet high, then, they have a trail leading into the center. I have gotten inside this area and it is just spooky. I took a lawn chair up there one day, and I jumped the patch of green briar, then, I followed the trail into the center and into the bedding area. The best way I can describe it is to take a iglo, make it out of green briar, then, put a 4 foot high wall in front of the door, leaving just enough room for you to jump into the trail, and that is what these deer had.

Deer are incredibly stealthy animals, and 5 acres is PLENTY of room for a deer to get around a human, if the habitat is right.

I am not saying that I would ever hunt a 5 acre, high fenced pen, that isn't my cup of tea, as I am sure that it isn't BigCountry's either, but, alot of you guys are making it sound like a 5 acre patch of timber with one deer in it is like trying to catch a bluegill swimming in a 10 gallon aquarium, and that is far from the truth.

Mitch, you can send me the pics and I will post them for you. As far as having someone come down and check it out, after X-mas, my best friend and I would LOVE to come down and check out your deer. Heck, maybe you can let me tinker around with one of your new Hoyts :D:D:D

Charlie yes according to F&K (Fenced & Killed) the wooden keg would be classified as a traditional kill.
OH crap.... here we go again... Traditionalist bashing compounds and compound shooters bashing X bows and on and on. One keg is the same as the next. It's the fellow(or gal) behind the pump.

Another good thing about the Invisible Fence is it won't be so hard to get the Kegs over the wire.:)

I think the photo shots will be soooooooooo much better as well with the invisible fence. You won't have to explain yourself when you have your picture with a nice buck with the fence in the background!!! Many advantages of the invisible fence. Just hold his head up high and nobody will ever know he was a fenced animal. I think my keg is calibrated and hoping to get out this weekend!!
