Default To feed or not to feed?

What do you guys think about feeding deer?

My inlaws love seeing deer at their place but sightings have dwindled in recent years. I bought them a feeder for xmas but am reluctant to give it to them. They are kind of leary about it. Their big argument is they don't want the deer to rely on them.

Anyway, just curious what some other peoples opinions are on the matter. I'm done hunting for the year so I won't be hunting on the land (illegal in MN).

Thanks

You know I just like to see the deer come into the backyard sometimes, and that is one way for them to come in, and also maybe to get some pictures with a scouting camera! But because of the CWD problems in Wi, and IL we can't do that!!
