Your best bet is going to be to head to a pro shop and try out a few bows in your price range. So many to choose from and each is going to have it' s own feel.

I would spend a little more money. You wont be sorry.

I recomend the Mathews FX, its $400 or less.

Parker

Hunter Mag Outfitter

$439

It comes complete...with a rest, sights, quiver, and four carbon arrows

A good value

My local pro shop has a Pearson setup for $389 + tax. Includes bow, rest, sight, arrows and release.

I also suggest a mathews fx. It was my first bow (last year) and i love it. It has never let me down and shoots perfect. I am rather new to this and dont know a heck of a lot but I do know I shoot very good groups with it and it has been reliable for me. Its not too bulky, very light, very fast (310fps i think), and has a lifetime warranty. If your gonna spend a good chunk of change you may as well try not to cut corners and get the best whether it mathews or another name even if it means waiting a tad longer. you dont want to be regretful.

I would have to agree with JeramyK. You should go to a pro shop and try out different types of bows within your price range and choose one that your comfortable with. I' ve been bowhunting since 1989 and if I would have taken somebody elses advice on a bow before trying different ones out I wouldn' t have been near as happy as I was with the bows that I have owned. Good luck and make sure you' re comfortable shooting the bow you decide to buy it will pay off when it counts.
