coyotes, to kill or not to kill, your take!

We' ve been having more and more where I hunt. I have yet to actually see one in person, but I have heard them plenty of times. I would love to kill one with a bow and like Rob said, I would consider it a trophy. One of my buddies took the first hunter killed yote on our property last season. He was pumped about it. I think like all things....take them in moderation...they need to be managed too. Heck I think they are probably helping our deer herd, it' s overpopulated anyhow.

I would never shoot anything looking like a dog.
I don' t think that my old Lab buddy would ever forgive me.
I realize that this is " city folk talking" and I understand farmers dislike of coyotees and wolves.

i thought i read in MAINE that coyotes kill 60% of the herd every year. they not only kill the weak and diseased but will pounce on healthy bucks and doe-s to the point that they are killing and not even eating some of the deer. like a cat on a mouse. anyone from that great state know the real deal?

There is a reason the Kentucky Dept of Fish and Wildlife has a year round season on coyotes. Too many. The increase in deer and turkey populations here has been a boon to coyotes as well.
