How long does it take deer to feel comfortable in the fields during daylight hours after the harvest? It was done about a week ago.
I hunt public land( a large island with road access), and they leave a few rows standing here and there. I found a small watering hole(5x6) in one hidden corner of the field, about 40 yards from the nearest treeline, and 1/4 mile from the road but hidden behind a treeline.
I am sure that I am not the only one who has seen it, but I am looking for a place to set up my groundblind to take my son(12) and daughter(14) with me. I was going to set it up in one of the places where they left 5 or 6 rows standing, using the outer rows, and the ones that I cut, to blend in.
Does that sound like a good setup? I just want them to be able to see deer.

Well if you are just looking at seeing deer it sounds good, however I would have to know a lot more befroe I could say whether you may be able to stick one from it. Remember the wind and where the deer are entering the field, I am sure that since this is on an Island that water sources for the deer are not a rarity, so I would not count on the watering hole to really draw them in.

Sounds like you got a nice spot to check out the action from. You need to pin point the bedding areas, all water sources, feed areas. Is this the only water around? Like Taz said where do they enter and exit the fields at. Deer will generally feed in open fields at night or towards evening and early mornings.
