Default Totally Sick

Hog hunting last night and shot a very very large boar. I was 20' up in my tree and he was 15-18 yards away. I got a good clean shot and the arrow was right on target. I was totally in shock to see the arrow only penatrated about 2/3 of the length. I don' t know what it hit on the opposite side but it did not pass thru. I waited about 2 hours and went looking. Found my arrow broke off and good high blood with alot of lung tissue. About 930 I tracked it to a sand road and lost the trail. I returned in the morning and picked the trail back up with copious amounts of blood. Followed it for about 80 yards into a deep swamp and lost all sign. Returned with dogs and spent another 3 1/2 hours. No Hog! Man am I sick. 20+ years of bowhunting and this is the first animal that I haven' t recovered. What a sick feeling. Never want to experience this again! Now I can understand what others are talking about. Until you loose an animal you can' t possibly understand.

I hear ya man. It is a bad feeling but at least you did all you could to find him. I' m sure he is dead and look at it this way, coyotes and buzzards are Gods creatures too and they have to eat as well. Small consolation I know but thats how I try to look at it.
