wow.....skyline and asat look great....the other ones are way to dark and have to much on them making them stand out.....maybe good in some situations but lets face it...most situations that your going to bowhunt from your not going to be burried in a brush pile head to toe....the kinda plain looking camos dont look the best and you wouldnt think theyd do good but htey both did better....just goes to show you....and the human outline almost dissappeard! i like them 2....nice comparision!

Matt, Thanks for taking the time and going through all the troubles of doing such a test/comparison... At a glimpse, I believe the ASAT looks the best (IMO) and I may have to buy some myself...
Now, when you get a little free time, would you also include in your comparison, my trusty Carhartt Brown Duck and the good old green blob woodland camo that I had when I was in the service...

Great job Matt!!!
I prefer my Predator camo through mid-season, then I switch to Realtree Hardwoods......no, not the HD newer style. I like the old original Realtree Hardwoods, works great for me from mid-November till we get snow, then I switch to Predator Grey.
No offense Aussie, wear your ASAT in my area and I' ll pick you out.
I am not out for fashion Aussie, I' ve worn about all the camo made since 1977, some camos mixed. They don' t even get broke in good till I get a few holes from barbed wire and briars.[:-]

Matt,
I am curious to see whether or not you went through with that idea you mentioned above. I did not see an additional thread yet though I may have missed it.
I picked up a digital camcorder yesterday that takes still shots. I have to wait for the connection hardware/software to arrive on Monday before I can attach it to the computer though. I am going to take some shots both in color and black and white of several camo outfits, hopefully over the next few days, and then I will post them. I hope to be able to filter out everything but the blacks, whites, grays, blues and yellows on some of the photos. That might get us somewhat closer to what was described above.

Thanks Matt for the test.
Obviously deer dont see anything like we do. Consider this. Every year B&C trophy bucks are taken by hunters wearing BLAZE ORANGE jackets and blue jeans. Many of these are taken by shotgun hunters at ranges of only 50-75 yards.
What deer see is movement. Bowhunting is tougher because when you get very close you have to move to draw. If you can see a deers eye he will spot you move. But if you dont move deer cant see you no matter what you are wearing as long as you arent standing up in the open where they can spot your human outline.

Any of them will work. I don' t own any of the ASAT but think it' s out of it' s element on the ground. Now you put it up in the trees about 20 feet and it would be better. I own several different patterns and wear them based on the tree, time of year and background I expect to be in. As I stated...they all work... it' s a people preference. Movement is the key.

Natty movement will get you busted quicker than anything as you say, when I was about 14 in the middle of the summer I am walking down the edge of a field with a rifle in hand to go pop a groundhog when a doe stepped out into the field not 10 yards in front of me! I froze and put my eyes down to a slit. I was wearing a white t-shirt and cut offs. She stared at me for quite a while, turning her head this way, then that, she stomped her feet at me several times trying to get me to move, I stayed still even as my sweat was burning my eyes like fire. She took about 3-4 steps toward me, stopped, stomped, stared, turned around and clamly walked back in the woods the way she had come, the whole time she would stop and turn back to look at me! Once she stepped in the woods I switched the gun from one hand to the other, she took off like a bat out of hades!!!!
Good camo will allow for a minor mistaken move, but that is it, being still is far more important than camo.

VEry good. Its amazing how differnent things look in black and white. Too much camo is manufactured today to look good in color vision. Ok if your turkey hunting but doesnt make sense for deer. Try taking somemore pictures in various treestand settings such as with very little to no background cover.
For those of you who want a better breakup pattern with the camo youve already got, try using light gray iron on patches. Cut them in various shapes and sizes.
You' ll be amazed at the difference and it costs only a fraction of what the new camo would cost you. Camo doesnt have to be fancy, just effective.
