RE: *** A Direct Comparison of CAMO !! (PICTURES)***
Mike,
If I look at say the bigger tree on the left side of each picture and see the whole picture with my peripheral vision, the ONLY 2 that I don' t see a person standing in the middle is with the Skyline and the ASAT. The other 3 just SCREAM " person standing here" to me? Then when I look at the ASAT directly I still see no person standing there. It just looks like leaves and holes in the surrounding cover. I would think it would look UNBELIEVABLE in the trees against the lighter sky, branches and canopy? Ranger, You can order directly from the ASAT website at www.asatcamo.com That' s what I did. Stump, You really think I' m gonna put that (How much $$) in writing![:o]:D |
RE: *** A Direct Comparison of CAMO !! (PICTURES)***
Matt looking at it again, I think you are probably right about the ASAT doing very well against a lighter background such as a little more sparse canopy where you would be skyline with most camo. But looking at those pics under those conditions, the ASAT looks like it is out of place. Look at the surrounding trees and foliage. At the level that the pics were taken all of the trees and stuff look dark to me, so to me the MO & Skyline blend in best there. But if you look a little higher where the canopy is not so thick, I think the ASAT would blend in better.

RE: *** A Direct Comparison of CAMO !! (PICTURES)***
I should have put a " Control" picture up with NO camo to see if people would say it didn' t blend as well as a certain pattern!;):D
It would have been funny to see if " 8Pt" thought the Realtree blended better than nothing at all![&:] Just funnin' " 8pt" , but it would have been a neat experiment.......should have thought of it sooner! |

RE: *** A Direct Comparison of CAMO !! (PICTURES)***
The mossy oak was hard for me to pic out but hte asat stuck out like crazy. I guess sitting in a tree it would blend in well. But anywho thanks for taking the time to test these camo' s and letting us compare them side x side!

ASAT HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!
If you don' t look deeply into the camo itself, then you will see what I am talking about. We aren' t talking about the pattern at all, that is probablly the least important thing here, what we are talking about is the out-line. That is, can you make out a shape of a hunter or not? The ASAT just takes other shapes in the background. Look at the suits left leg, (our right), it just fades into that brush behind it. The others on the other hand, you can see a line between the bush and the camo. I read once that a study was done on a bunch of different camo clothes, which were put into gray-scale to represent what a deer see. Guess what came out on top!!!!!!!!!!!1 A Hawian shirt...... SERIOUSLY. It broke up the outline. ASAT was the top out of all the actual camo' s. The HD and " more realistic" patterns did very poorly because they faded into more of a blob and showed a definite outline. Now, so you know, I am not brand loyal. Actually, I am using Realtree Hardwoods HD Green, which is probablly the worst camo. But, that will be changing soon :D |

Bobcat.
last season I had a button buck within arms lenght of me when I was in a natural ground blind. I did slowly reach out and slapped his butt, he jumped spun around snorted and stamped his hoof. His mother and twin sister where within 10 yards and the doe just looked up straight at me or should I say through me for a minute or so and went back feeding. That has been the biggest buzz I have had hunting in a long time. On the ASAT web page there is another close encounter story I had. That was also posted on here. In short I had a group of does and fawns feeding in front of me when a buck grunted so I grunted back at him and forgot about the doe' s. In all the excitement of calling a buck in one of the does went looking for the mystery buck and came in the back of the blind which I had cut out of a small cedar grove. I went to pick up the call one last time to get him into the open and I was hit by deer snot on the back of my head and a very loud snort her head was only inches from the back of my head when she picked up the movement of my arm as I raised the grunt tube. That morning is as close as I want to get to having a heart attack.;) |

With the terrain I hunt , I personally think I' d stick out like a turd in a punch bowl wearing ASAT. |
