As I was flipping to see what was on the " Gold Fever" channel the other day I cought Better Built' s World of Outdoors just long enought for Brock Ray to say " I' m here with so and so from canned hunt preserve to tell you why canned hunts are challenging and just like free range deer hunting." Then I flipped the channel....[

Yeah...there are very few hunting shows that are worth watching anymore. I watch the outdoor channel religiuosly and even watch the jacked up hunts where they have 200 fenced acres and shoot down clear cuts with a feeder every 50 yards...makes me giggle. I love when they shoot the one buck milling around with three other monster rackes and 124 does and all the deer look up and continue feeding after the 300 win mag blows a buck into 3 pieces @ 40 yards.
Like I said...makes me giggle.

Man I am right there with you guys on this subject. I really like alot of the shows but some of them make me downright sick. Texas Tropy Hunters, Better Built, Sportsmen etc. I don' t know how these guys can get any satisfaction out of shooting penned animals. I remember last year on Exploring the Outdoors, they showed the women co host go to this really nice lodge where she was doing her first crossbow hunt. The guide drove her right out to the lift blind ( she walked a whole 10 yards), they crawled in and pushed the button and were soon up off the ground, sitting in nice comfy stuffed chairs. Well, right on cue, the deer started showing up in the little patch of clover that they fed in every night and lo and behold she gota shot at a nice buck. Hit it high. Cut to the next secen, her and the guide with the buck. Then she looked right in the camera and told how happy she was because she really " WORKED HARD" for this buck. I wanted to puke!![X(] last time I ever watched that show.
I am a member of Ted Nugent United Sportsmen, have been for about 11 years ( when it was still World Bowhunters), and I really like Ted, appreciate all he does for our rights and stand shoulder to shoulder with him, but the Spirit of the Wild shows have really dissapointed me this season. Everything is hunting at the YO ranch. Last week, he and Shemane ( wife), his son, two band members and another guy were all sitting in a big lift blind taking turns shooting different animals. Everyone got one all the same day. Then they all got down and went out to each persons animal lying all over the field. Really bummed me out. I guess sitting there with 5 or 6 different species of game all around me in a big comfortable blind that I didn' t set up and scout isn' t my idea of hunting.
I have read guys say that this is jelousy talking and that if we had the chance to do it we would, etc. etc. Well, honestly, I would pass. I would rather gou out and hunt my small Ohio woodlots in stands that I set up from my time scouting and try and win the game against a totally wild animal that something raised on a ranch or farm to be bought and shot. just my opinion, and from what I read, the opinions of others also. I will keep watching the good guys who really hunt, and turn the channel on the game buyers!
