Default GETTING RID OF THE BOWTECH!!!!!!!!

Hey guys,

I am thinking about getting rid of my BowTech MightyMite. The more I shoot it and the more I shoot my best friends VFT, the more I realize that I want a longer a.t.a. bow with VFT!

Yesterday, after about 20 shots from my bow, my groups went from 1" at 20 yards to about 3" at 20 yards. I then picked up his bow and shot a dozen arrows and I was shooting tight groups again.

I have also noticed that I don' t torque the bow until after it is shot. Whenever it is shot, the bow kicks to the right. It is enough to through my arrow about 4" to the right every once in awhile.

Another thing is that I had one string leech fly off, so, I broke the other one off and my bow is making a pretty loud TWANG noise.

The reason I didn' t spring for a VFT style bow when I got mine is that they just didn' t feel right at the time, but, the more I shoot them now, the more I like it.

I am going to give the MightyMite until this weekend and if I keep building up my frustration, I will be selling it and buying a new BowTech.

I am not sure which one yet, I really am looking at the Patriot SC and the Extreme VFT! The Pat Dually is too harsh for me, and I don' t want to go over the 36" a.t.a. range. I just want something a little more forgiving than the MightyMite.

Which would you guys choose, the Extreme VFT or the Patriot SC and what do you think I could get out of my 2002 MightyMite with a brand new Winners Choice String, Fletcher Tru-Peep, Simms Limb Savers (30" draw module and 70 pound limbs)

Now I know how Rack feels all the time [:' (][:@]

Ahhh...your just a rookie when it comes to being aggravated - I have the market cornered

The solo pat is a sweet shooter (with the right rest) easy draw cycle and good speed with a nice brace- A super hunting bow IMO.

The VFT is faster and has that shorter brace

The solo is the better hunting bow for me.

My advice is to get those huge speed and ke figures out of your head and shoot a moderate fast more forgiving bow.

Or......that mighty might should be a decent shooter.........Is the bow or is it you. You know once its in your head that the bow is not right, it can be very hard to shoot it well. Have confidence in the bow and see if it can shoot the way you want it to - if not - the solo pat may be a good choice

BM: Please don' t take these coments the wrong way. Its not the MM' s fault you torque, its yours. Your string " stars" or what ever their called, will fall off the VFT' s also. I think you' ve already made up your mind to 86 the MM. Don' t dismiss the Pat DC until you try the 60lb' er. Pulling 60 don' t make you any less of an archer. If you have torque issues, both the Pats brace hights will help.

Nub,

No offense taken whatsover. The thing is that the MightyMite is so easy to torque. I never really noticed it until I started fine- sighting it in. One tiny little mistake and the arrow goes 3" right. I have tried gripping the bow differently, entirely open hand, very lightly closed around the grip, ect... It seems like I have to keep my hand very lightly closed around the grip, with my pinky finger resting on my stabilizer in order to help make sure the bow doesn' t cant to the side.

I may be just nit-picking about this, as my groups are well enough to kill deer at my maximum hunting distance. I feel 100% confident that I could easily kill deer with this bow.

I may just be tryin to hard

I am gonna give the MightyMite some time. I don' t really know if I want to switch bows this close to season. Archery season starts October 4th here and that is just a month and a half away.

I am probablly going to keep the bow this season, and if I still don' t like it after archery is done, I will probablly get rid of it. Who knows, that could be around the time that the 04 BowTech' s come out []

I always like a longer ATA - just seem more forgiving for me. 34" ATA is about as short as I will go.

Buck.
I have to agree with Nub.
With your 30" draw the 60lb Dually is gonna be fast enough and pack enough wallop to take any animal you are going to hunt.

Take it from an old fellow that by dropping 10lbs later on in your life your shoulders are going to thank you.

I know there is this macho thing with guys that if you dont pull 70 lbs your a whimp but thats totally untrue.

Plus if you drop to the 60 with 65% let off you will still be able to hold a little steadier on target.

But the final choice is yours alone shoot them and then decide.

Sounds like you' ve got the new bow itch pretty bad.
When I was trying to shoot a TT on my mighty mite I could torque the bow any which way and the arrows would still group. With my WB rest, torquing will equal a 2" off center shot.
For me, not torquing the bow is the answer. For you, another bow altogether may be the ticket.
Have you tried a different grip, or removing the grip altogether (less surface area for your palm to grab)?

This coming from the guy who found the " Perfect" bow a few weeks ago? You didn' t have any problems shooting it until your friend picked up the " Latest and Greatest" more expensive bow?
Sounds like a case of " VFT Envy"

If you have it in your mind that you NEED a different hunting bow I can' t talk you out of it.....but try to forget what your friend has and go back to loving your bow a little while longer. If you are convinced you can' t shoot one as well as the other , there is NO WAY you are going to put the same effort and concentration into shooting the bow you have shot after shot. You' ll keep looking at his bow and not whats in your hands.

The season is creeping up FAST........my advice? Forget your buddy' s bow and get to know yours better. You' ll gain almost zero performance and only wind up spending more money.
You want to prove to yourself that you shoot that bow just fine? Next time you shoot with your buddy put something on the line.........a little friendly competetion. Or better yet........play " Nocks" and see if you don' t suddenly find the magic again.

Matt/PA,

I wasn' t shooting bad, but, yesterday was terrible. I couldn' t hit anything. I had it out today and was drilling them right in the 1" bullseye. I was probablly just trying to hard.

I am probablly goin to keep the MightyMite. Today, when I was out shooting it, I actually enjoyed it. Yesterday was just a BAD day [>:]

Now guys,

1. Is there any string silencers that are incredibly durable and will work as well as string leech' s? The cat whiskers are great for durability but aren' t as good at reducing noise. If push comes to shove, I will put them on.

2. The draw cycle on the bow seems overly harsh lately, and that is after turning the bow down from 72# to 65#.

3. The bow is " set" at 80% let-off but feels like 50%. When I first got the bow, it felt like I was holding no weight at full draw. I then put it to 65% let-off and then when I switched it back to 80%, it feels heavier than 65%.

4. The bow seems to want to consistenly let down at full draw. I have to really concentrate to hold the thing at full draw now, or it is gonna rip my arm off[>:]

Any ideas as to what would cause this change?
