I havent used it at scrapes, but when I use it I just put it all around like on trees and the ground and everything, and man...the deer love it. I stayed out a little longer one night to see if anything might show up when its too dark to shoot, and a few minutes later a 4 point came in a sniffed around for abuot 15 minutes...too bad it wasnt light.

Deer are attracted to vanilla because it smells similar to white oak acorns . My grandfather used it and swore by it . My results with it have been mixed since it mostly drew in does and younger bucks .

I' ve used vanilla extract several times and young bucks and does seem to love the smell. They come in, nose to the ground, until they find it. I' ve only used it early in the season. I' m thinking about trying it around the rut to see if any does will come in, dragging a ruttin' buck with them.

I make my own deer scents and one of the ingredients I add to my acorn scent is vanilla extract. Works great. I have used it by itself and gotten some response but it works best mixed with my acorn scent.

my local game butcher told me that he put perfume on a drag rag and had deer follow it. he said deer when curious will follow any scent that they dont think is any danger. im still looking for the magic potion
