3 hours minimum before sunset if possible, I have killed deer after getting on stand with only 1 1/2 hours of light left though. I hunt a lot of afternoons because I get off work early in the day, last year I got off at 2:30PM, now at I get off at 1PM!

Depends on the day, time of year, weather etc. Anywhere from 1:00 to 6:30. Right now we' re on crop damage hunting. 6 or 6:30 on the edge of a field is early enough but I go about 5.
