Razor Ring Broadhead
#3
horntagger, I am no expert, but the KE you would need to get a pass through with that broadhead would have to be throught the roof! I know that several others here have tried them before and swore they would never use them again.

Tazman is correct you will not get any penetration with that design.I don' t understand their premise, you want your broadhead to slice and cause trauma not take a round chunk out like a cookie cutter.

This has been discussed on several other sites and very few positive things were said about this broadhead. Several people who had experience using them went back to their original heads. So good luck.

They talk alot about penetration and it' s cutting ability.
But time will only tell.

That thing may leave a gapping hole but the amount of KE required for penetration would be incredible. Not only would it require a lot of KE for its initial cut but it needs a lot of KE to continue cutting and forcing the tissue through the ring.
A stupid little comparison that comes to mind…..a tool my wife bought to remove the core of an apple. It’s a little sharp “razored” ring/tube that is very similar to the razor ring concept. You force it down through the apple, pull it out then push the core out. This comparison may not be “apples to apples” but I know it requires far less force to just slice the apple open with a knife.

Horntagger,The only thing that Razor Ring is good for would is coring apples.Just think about the design, the KE needed for any kind of bone hit would be ridiculous.I think maybe it was designed by the people who make the Starlight blood trail tracking spray.
