RE: heard of the razor ring
....RUN!!!....RUN THE OTHER WAY!!!....STAY AWAY FROM THE COOKIE (CUTTER) MONSTER!!
Just having some fun, sorry. [>:]
I' m not one to bad mouth products but I do have to call it like I see it. I have used the Razor Ring broadhead. Although I don' t think shooting one small bodied eight point buck makes me any kind of authority on the head, I saw enough evidence to convince me that they weren' t a head I should be using.
I shot the buck with a setup that was generating around 60lbs of kinetic energy. He was standing broadside at 15 yards. The shot was nearly perfect. I couldn' t have walked up and stabbed him with my arrow any better. Penetration was terrible. I have shot mechanicals with a two inch cutting diameter that did a much better job of penetrating than this head (and in bigger animals too). Although it took out both lungs and the heart the head never touched the far side of the rib cage in this small buck.
Further testing revealed poor tolerances and materials. None of my heads spun true. I broke a ferrule shooting into plywood, and I couldn' t get a good sharp edge on the " ring" .
I will say this though. They got great results with the head on their video.

What' ll think of next a Schick Razor strapped to a shaft?
Even this cookie cutter head isn' t anything new. The idea has been around for ages and it' s always sucked.

That ring would have to create a ton of drag. I can' t even begin to imagine the level of KE you would need to push that contraption all the way through a deer. You would probably have to shoot it out of one of those deck guns they used to have on Russian whaling ships to get a pass through. If your bow had enough power to use this thing then you could just screw on an expandable head with about a 2 inch cut and make some really gory holes.
