Deception27 Don't mind VC1111 he's just walking wounded from the hunting forum. Perfectly harmless and he means well . I'm sure with a couple days rest he will make a full recovery.

Taz,

The earth's magnetic pull has little to do with it. Carbon, wood and aluminum are little affected by magnetic forces. Just try and see if a magnet will attract any one of those materials. The weights added by broadheads and field points are negligible.

The moon has it's hands full with the ocean tides, fishing schedules, the ruts, green cheese and other such phenomena.

I figure that we all wobble about as much as what the earth does so that offsets that force.

Cosmic wind....hmmmmm....now I hadn't thought of that. Normally it wouldn't amount to a hill of beans but, with the depletion of the ozone layer your might just have something there.

I'd have to have rates of depletion, speeds of cosmic winds etc., etc. Even so and "everything else being equal" (the disclaimer that I forgot to add to my first reply hence this reply and an end to all other unreasonable arguments), the cosmic wind would only change the flight, yes, I did say flight VC, by perhaps picometers, More realistically even as small as fentometers. Hardly a concern for splitting hairs.

Now I know why I missed that buck this past season.

How does and arrow at rest, paper tune nock high or nock low, and does it rest better with mechanicals or fixed blades?

An arrow can be resting nicely in the dirt after passing through a big buck! An arrow at rest can also be very neer time to "fly" meaning "to be projected" it is a projectile, is it not? At rest being on the thing we all call the arrow "rest", thank you! Shoot straight!

Reminds me of a stupid riddle I heard as a kid:

Question: What's the difference between a duck?

Answer: One of its legs is both the same.

So Cyclone brings up an important point. Since the magnetic pull doesn't effect the weight of the aluminum and carbon shafts, yet it does effect my broadheads some, does this mean I really have a higher FOC if I shoot toward the Magnetic North Pole and less if I shoot toward the South Pole. And since this must be true I really have to watch out if I'm shooting East or West and make the appropriate allowances. This really explains how I missed some deer over the last 30 years. I knew I was better than I appeared to be. It wasn't my fault at all... It was Mother Nature. I think we should just dig up this magnetic pole now that we have GPS's. We don't need compasses anymore. Then I would become a real hunter. If I shoot West do I allow for side ways pull to the right or do I allow for a simulated lower FOC.

Now, now David. Go back to my last post and read the disclaimer.

It is the standard that all scientists, engineers, philosophers and us other members of intelligencia. "All else being equal" negates all other forces. Broadhead mfgrs are smart enough to know this. They engrave the phrase on each and every good broadhead (mechanicals do not carry the mark). Don't bother looking for it as it is smaller than the standard microscope can resolve. It is simply engraved with a single carbon atom under the electron microscope. Why else would they be so expensive?

Flight will not be affected as the poles will ignore the head. Your better off spending your time checking the wind and adjusting your shot accordingly. You've perhaps seen ole Danel Boone lick his finger and test the wind? This is actually a very sophisticated and accurate scientific test.

vc1111, davidmil, cyclone, et al:

Don`t confuse magnetism with gravity.

Don`t confuse weight with mass.

Don`t forget that time is a continuum not an incremental summation.

Don`t forget to only use use fletch-tite in a well ventilated room. Especially you, VC...
