VC,
No, I think it may even be above the great thinkers on the technical forum...
...maybe we should have a "mystical/spirtual" archery forum....

This is why I only take shots that are towards the west. The earth rotates towards the east hence the arrow would be slowed by the rotation of the massive body. Shoot to the west.....and you have the speed of the planet with you.
You say you want proof?
circumference = 24,901.5 miles
time to make that distance = 24 hrs
speed 1038mph = 1522fps...
speed of fast bows = 300fps
1522fps - 300fps = 1222fps deficit
Now it's a whole nuther ball game if you decide to shoot north or south! You'll have to decide how much to lead your stationary target by an which end to lead off!!
If you decide to shoot towards the east:
You'll shoot your eye out!
(Hey that'd be a good line for a movie)
Now of course shooting on a different planet will greatly affect these numbers....but...well have to ask VC about those! Have a nice trip my friend.

Cyclone... I knew you would know. You are truly a zen archer.
Now about the monk thing...first understand that on the surface one thinks this might be off topic, but no.....remember the series Kung Fu? The monks were students of archery..."One does not shoot the bow; he only lets it shoot"
I was puzzled and dazed by the aforementioned monk story until I thought and pondered. Here to wit, and for those who prefer not to be cross-referenced, is the conclusion at which I arrived, as posted in the Political Forum, currently the home of discussions by hunting's greatest thinkers, for topics such as torpedoes, dead dogs, cleavage, racist jokes, and optional underwear:
You see the older monk is asking the younger monk why he's still carrying her mentally. See? He's like saying "I put her down back there, but you are still thinking about her, or carrying her on your mind if you would." It's like a lesson for the younger inquisitive monk as they travel their path of earthiness and ponder all manner of suchness. See? And the older monk is trying to teach the younger monk that to reach "plains unreached" as it were, if you would, so to speak, that one has to "put down" that which is passed in the suchness and the plains unreached will be therefore more easily and naturally reached because you're not, you know, walking around with all that extra suchness, and such, so to speak. They're like monks, you know, they're into that kinda stuff. Suchness and plains unreached, and stuff. It's not really about monks, you know, it's more about learning a lesson. And such.

Ooohhhhh, now it all makes perfect sense, thanks for clearing all of that up for me, vc1111. Do you by any chance have a window near you that you could crack open and maybe stick your head out for just quick breath of fresh air????

Cyclone when doing your calculations are you giving consideration to the magnetic pull of just the earth and moon, or are you also bringing into play the cosmic wind and the other planets? Do you compensate for the natural wobble of the earth as it spins on its axis? Nanometers my friends can add up with time.
