Bear Hunting
#1
I' ve read a few post on the subject, and am interested in getting into the extra hunting time. There are many bears spotted in the area where I deer hunt, and I want to take a shot at one. In W.Va, there is no spring season, and baiting is illegal, so how in the He!! do I even get started??

Where Im from no baiting is alowed also,so what I do is go for is thier nose.Bears can smell up to 10 miles away take avantage of this.First scout and find were they are feeding ( fresh torn up oak trees is best )or berrys you can tell when its fresh theres sign every where,scat-paw prints-scraching etc.when entering the woods lay a scent trail with acorn or prisimon or grape or any thing that a bear would like.set up up wind of the bear sign in a tree stand is best, and keep sparying your sent.eveing hunts are best.Seting up on ridge saddles or creek crossing are good to.A frend of mind uses sardine juice for his sent and has been sucsesful.Go for the nose and you`ll bag one.
good luck.
good luck.
