Default leasing land

just wondering how much people pay to lease land for hunting. i have an opportunity to lease some land in north central missouri for $300. i would be allowed to use it all year round for any kind of hunting. only thing is that its about a 3 hour drive and im not sure how many days ill be able to get off work to hunt it. i have some places for turkey and deer about 10 minutes from me, but its not as good of a place as the one up north. i just wanted to compare my situation with other peoples. thnx

Hey Peavis, where you from in Missouri? I am from the SW corner of the state. Just joined a hunting club with 1000' s of acres of leased land to hunt on. I am really excited about the upcoming season.

It depends on how much land there is and how many others will be hunting there. If its a hundred or more avres and not much pressure, its a good deal. Im from central MO to so if its a huge farm and your solo, let us know[&:]

How much to pay? It all depends on how many acres, deer #' s, and type of land.

A friend of mine and his dad lease 320 acres of prime river bottom farm land for 500.00 per year. It is usually planted in wheat and milo by the owner. It also has several oak woodlots on it and some open pasture.

They are able to hunt year round for, deer, turkey, quail, rabbit, and squirrel. For them it is worth the money.

All of ya' ll are spoiled - LOL! Try to get in on a hunting club in south Louisiana, and the fees are $800-1500 per member on marginal hunting land, plus - you are sharing this leased land with up to 30 other members[:@]. Now we are not talking about thousands of acres either - the average lease here is about 1000 acres (+ or -)[]. Most hunters I know lease land in Mississippi or Texas for 1/2 the cost here - including out of state fees. $300!!!! I would drive the 3 hours anytime!

$300 for a couple hundred acres, what are you nuts. GO FOR IT, if its decent like your brother says. Why? Well let me tell you why. Leasing privates lands in NY has become very popular. Most leases cover the costs of land taxes for the property. Land taxes are pretty high compared to alot of other states. Just as an example myself, father, and my 2 brothers lease a 75acre junk. Its considered quite reasonable size in NY. We built a camp on it w/ owners permission. I alone myself pay $260 a yr, so you do the math x4. Now tell me that doesn' t sound like alot! But considering the other option to buying a piece of similar size, and still paying the high taxes, its quite cost effective. Our bonus is its surrounded by 1,000 acres of state public land which see' s very little pressure during archery season. Which is the main reason we leased this land. We all love to bowhunt, and I' m there every wknd, plus time-off allowed during the week during archery season to bowhunt. So if you have a chance on a couple hundred acres for $300 I' d highly consider it!!!!!!!
